SL3 Installation problems

I have a dish at a camp.  Currently I have the old 18x20 3lnb dish with D12-500 receiver.  The reciever is wired directly to the dish in a one reciever set up, with no issues.

I am trying to setup a new dish - A slimline 3 (SL3K4NR0-01) with the same D12-500 reciever.  I cannot, for the life of me, get it to recieve any signal.  I really don't konw for sure, which dish to select.  I assume it should be the "Slimline-3" which I believe is option #4.  I have tried most of them and still nothing.

Am I missing anything in the set up?  I don't believe that I would need any filters because it is a non-hd reciever...

Do I have to have a Power Inserter?  Any other ideas?

I have set up several of the 18x20 dishes and never had any problems, but this Slimline is killing me!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you won't gain anything by using the SL3 dish.  your receiver can't get any HD channels. why you want to use this dish?

This dish I was using was borrowed from a friend.  I came across this SL3 and was told that it should be compatible.

That dish should work.  Verify that it has Four coax outputs, not just one.  If it's only got one, then it's a SWM dish and will require a Power Inserter.

Also, note that the aiming coordinates are different.  Your old Phase III dish centered on the 110ºW satellite, while the Slimline dish is centered on the 101ºW satellite.  You can get the aiming coordinates and aerial mapping tools at http://www.dishpointer.com

It does have 4 coax outputs.

I used the aiming coordinates for the Direct TV SL3 satellite and found it to be very close to what I was using.

I tried setting it on the Slimline 3 dish, but I have since been told to try the #18 selection for a Slimline 5s.  I don't konw if this will make a difference or not.

I am really wondering if there is something wrong with unit....

No, you don't have a Slimline 5S.  That's for the SWM dish.  The correct setting should be "Multiswitch" and "03: Slimline - 3".

The aiming coordinates should be very different.  The Slimeline dish's azimuth will be several degrees to the East of the Phase III's azimuth setting.  Are you sure you're looking up the proper dish at Dishpointer?
