Good for you. I recall how anxious you were to get the update. I think this feature is really slick and I predict Directv will sign up millions of their customers when this goes mainstream. My wife has already told me we're getting it even if she has to take the fee out of my allowance.
Yeah, but I'm a little jealous and feel like I'm being discriminated against because I live east of the Mississippi River:0( I've tried to be patient and hold my breath, but I'm beginning to turn a little blue in the face:0) C'mon DirecTV.....put the rollout in high gear!!!!!! We want our MRV(sung to the tune of "We Want Our MTV, by Dire Straits:0)
Actually DJ, maybe it isn't the East of the Mississippi deal that got you, maybe it's the TN suffix? I'm sorry you're jealous, I'll think of you when we watch the first half of American Idol in the LR and finish in our nice comfy bed later on. I gotta tell you, this is one slick feature.
I don't know if this helps but by the time the software finally came I had completely given up on it, I just figured it wasn't working or something like that BUT it works. Its a little jumpy on rewind and fast forward. I'm sure it wont be long now that the rollout has started. Your going to love this feature.
You'll know when the MRV options appear in your menus. With the DVRs, there was also a slide that popped up on the first use of the guide announcing the new features. I'm not sure if that is true for regular receivers however. You can also hold the Info button until the system info screen pops up and check the software version and dates. 0x3A8 for HR2x and 0x43A8 for H2x are what you need right now.
My wife has been on me about this since we bought our new HD receivers. I just looked at the software version on my H20 and I still have the older version. 😞 Im hoping in the next few days we will get our update because we would rather watch our DVR programs in our bed room where we can relax and watch our shows together. So hopefully in a few days I can report how well it works for us.
bighurt49245: Your H20 will never have MRV because it does not support ethernet (networking). Only the H21, H23 and new H24 HD Receivers support networking.

bighurt, If you signed up with and received the H20 from Directv then if I were you I'd call and tell the CSR you are in trouble with your family over this. I'd wager that they will send you a different receiver. Surely if not now, when the feature goes mainstream and you call to opt in.
I think the update moves from West to East (the gurus can confirm or deny this :). For those of you who are waiting for the update, I live in North Texas and it updated today on my HR21.
I tried it out and it worked great!! So those of you East of Texas. It is on its way!
LMAO, I do have the HD - H21-200. Must of been a typo. Of well I guess. Still havent got the update yet for the H21, but I did for my HD-DVR - HR20-700.
