Tv won’t play

My TV displays “input 2” but does not play the tv. It just continues to display the input cgannel.

Is that the correct input?  Use the TV controller to select the correct input for Directv.

You may also try connecting the Receiver to another TV Input --as well

Pay attention to the "INPUT" on the back of the TV that the receiver is plugged into and that's the INPUT you choose TV remote.

Naturally as others have said, first verify your TV is on the correct input to begin with (HDMI-1, HDMI-2, A/V, Input 1, etc.).

Try plugging into another input on the TV or using a different cord between box and TV.

Check the cord is secure on both ends.

Verify the box is turning on in the first place.

Make sure the box is not plugged into a "smart" power strip and your TV had HDMI-CEC turned off (if it has it). Those two options can cause issues with full power on and communication for DirecTV.

Try another device on the TV on that same input.

Unplug power from TV and DirecTV box for a minute that allows a full refresh of both.

Check to see if your TV has any software/firmware updates.

If you use a HDMI splitter, audio device, or something else in between, try plugging the box into the TV directly.

This should either resolve the issue. If not, then at the very least it narrows down where the problem is.
