Upgrade receiver

I have an old R16-300 receiver. I would like to upgrade to a HD receiver. Do I need to change the dish antenna or will the old one work with the new HD receiver.

You will have to have a SWM slimline HD dish to use HD receivers, DTV has a free swap offer to get both for free with the HD fees waived for a time but DTV is pushing a Genie upgrade with minis and added fees and new 2 year contract.

If you have the R16 it is required to replaced as is MPEG-2. Most likely you have a legacy multiswitch setup, though R16 technically could work on SWM but with limitations. So you probably are in need of a new dish as well. As long as this is at home, DirecTV provides what is needed. But if in an RV or such, you pay and arrange for all the updates.

What are the models of all your boxes? Just so you can be prepared for any other options.
