The hr54 and there’s a smaller box in the girls room that isn’t working now either. The cable I moved it from barley comes a foot from the wall I moved the box and tv to the other side of the room.

that smaller box is a mini, it wont work unless the hr54 is hooked up and running

you can move the hr54 into the girls room,

and get a wireless video bridge

then a wireless mini

this will most likely be considered an upgrade and come with a 2 year contract

Call DirecTV to replace your current Genie Mini with a wireless Mini (C61W) and add a Wireless Video Bridge to your setup. 1 800 531 5000

You can also get an F81 barrel nut and a length of coax to extend it to the new location.  There is no way to connect the HR54 wireless to the coax.

HR54 is the 3rd generation Genie.

The little box is most likely a Mini Genie Client (model starts with C) that is an extension of the Genie (shares tuners and recording space as has none of its own).

The Genie like all receivers is wired, but there is a Wireless Mini Genie option.

Call DirecTV to upgrade to wireless Mini Genie (comes with 24 month service agreement as usual).

If you don't have a free upgrade, or do more than 1 Mini, it is $99 one-time lease for the Mini.

Wireless Video Bridge (WVB) will be installed wired but serves as the antenna for all wireless Minis you have.

WVB is $99 as owned accessory, not covered by a free upgrade.

No difference in monthly cost difference with any upgrade as same number of TVs.

Since you would need the WVB wired anyway which requires a tech visit, it is suggested to upgrade a Mini to a HDDVR instead. This has 2 tuners and 500GB recording space so no concern about conflicts. Tech would wire it where you need it. Still no difference in monthly cost but you get more capability, especially since it doesn't take tuners from the Genie (though each can still see the other's recordings of course). Genie can only use up to 3 Minis at one time because of the shared tuners.
