Using DT tripod satellite in middle of the desesrt
Hi. Customer service English couldn't understand what I'm asking.
RV is way out in desert, no wifi, barely get 1 bar on T-Mobile signal.
RV has wineguard 360air which only gets UHF channels which is over the 55-75 mile limit (I'm about 83 miles plus mountains blocking)
Will the swim box that comes with this dish be enough?
Do i need something else?
My house has a main dvr and 2 extra genie boxes - 3 total

A satellite dish/antenna by itself will not get DirecTV. You must have a DirecTV box with you.
The DirecTV box receives the service which the access card authorizes it to decrypt the signal. The dish doesn't decrypt the signal (otherwise everybody could get free DirecTV).
You need a H (basic receiver) or HR (HDDVR) model to take with you when you go in the RV.
If you have the regular Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) with Mini Genie Clients, I would suggest replacing one of the Clients with a receiver/HDDVR. That way you have one box to take with you for temporary mobile use while leaving the others at home.
If you have the Genie-2 (HS17), the Headless Server tower that doesn't go on a TV itself, you are out of luck. This model FORBIDS other receivers from being on the account, only allowing Clients. Those Clients cannot work by themselves as they are extensions of the main box, no tuners of their own. The Genie-2 is not friendly for RV users.

What model is your main DVR that you're using on the RV?
What satellite dish model are you using?

No DVR? You'll need a DirecTV HD DVR or HD Receiver to use that dish and receive anything. Please explain.

Thats what i was wondering. Customer service said to wait for a code on the tv screen after i powered up the antenna.
This is looking like its more trouble/ cost than it's worth.

That customer service rep probably assumed you had a DirecTV HD DVR or HD Receiver connected to the satellite dish. That's the only way to receive DirecTV. If your home HD DVR is anything but an HS17 Genie Server, you can take it with you and use that new Slimline satellite dish. What is your home HD DVR model number?

You also need to aim that dish and align it to the sats. There is no code to enter into the TV that is for streaming services.
You need a DTV sat subscription and a DTV sat HD receiver to use DTV sat service.

I have DT service at my house, main dvr box in living room, 2 small boxes in bedrooms.
Main dvr box has to stay at house with family.
The antenna came with aiming directions but nothing about needing another dvr box

I'm guessing that the satellite dish manual assumes you have a DirecTV box.

You are out of luck then. You need to bring the main Genie receiver with you in order to do anything. If you have the HS17, you are really stuck because then you cannot buy an H24 or H25 receiver off Solid Signal, activate it on your account, and use that.

So if my house is a HS17 (and i leave it at my house), i cant get some other box for this antenna even though its 100 miles away from my house?

That is correct, the HS17 account doesn't allow any other DTV receivers it only allows mini clients that are bricks without the HS17 and you can only have 1 HS17 per account.

If you already bought that RV dish stuff, hopefully you can still return it.

Label on bottom of box or inside door with access card. You should also be able to go into the Menu and then Info and Test to see it on screen.
