Video skips and audio glitches on certain channels

Several channels - CBS, NBC and couple others keep having brief black screens, ocassional pixelating, and audio skips. I was sent a new DVR. Went to all the trouble of setting it up, connecting genies, setting up recording schedule, etc and it is still happening. I start watching my favorite shows and have to switch to HULU so I don't miss audio & video. A neighbor said they are experiencing same & were told it has to do with negotiations with certain networks?? My signal readings look good. What is going on? If I can't watch my main channels I just need to cancel service.

Thanks for posting. Those signal readings look great. It's likely an issue with those stations' feeds to DirecTV, especially since your neighbor observes the same issue. It's not your equipment or your dish alignment. Contact both DirecTV and the location stations about the issue.

If it were carriage negotiations, then the entire channel would be gone. Usually that is accompanied by a message on screen.

With temporary issues of black screens, pixelating, audio skips, etc. then that indicates a technical issue. You mention CBS and NBC, so is it just your locals that are affected? What is your zip code and county (will indicate what local affiliate owner runs those stations). Is the problem on all your boxes or just the one replaced? I would also check your signal readings (post them if you can).

Thank you for your response. I will see if I can provide more info. I mostly watch everything after it has recorded (to avoid commercials) so of course it appears the same on all boxes. I'll try watching some live tv today to see if I can narrow it down.
