Wanted to add an additional receiver for another room

I called to see how much it would cost to add an additional receiver to another room. The agent told me it would be an additional $7 a month, plus a one time fee of $99 for the tech to come out, then another $49 one time fee. FOR WHAT? Cant I just hook it up myself. So frustrating. Ty

Additional TV monthly fee is $7.

$99 is service call. DirecTV will not ship you a box as additional because they have to wire the room it will go into. They would only ship the box if it is just a simple swap.

The $49 is odd unless perhaps you don't have a free upgrade, but they were able to discount it further. For reference here are the one-time lease costs if it isn't free.

Genie $299 (only 1 allowed on the account)

HDDVR $199

HD non-DVR $99

Mini Genie Client $99

The $49.00 extra would be a new customer fee if you just installed recently (within 6 mos) $99.00 would be the upfront cost of either a mini or hd non dvr there's also another cost scenario which is: $99.00 for the receiver and $49.00 for an additional receiver install

The early upgrade fee for within the 1st 6 months. That is one charge that never made sense to me.
