What is required to install a C61K with a HR54

I am wondering what it takes to add a C61K Genie Mini connected to one TV to a system that uses a HR54 receiver connected to another TV.

Let me try again. I have an HR54/700 GENIE main unit that I am trying to add a unit on another TV (non 4K) wireless. I thought there was a way to do it.

You just need a SWM splitter with individual coaxial connections to the C61K and HR54. Then, activate the C61K on your account (if it hasn't been already, this costs an additional $7/mo for the TV access fee). Then, on the HR54, go to Menu, Settings, Whole-Home, Clients, and Add Clients. The code displayed on your HR54 should be put in on the C61K. From there on, follow the steps on your C61K to get it set up with the HR54.

HR54 Genie on non 4K tv (Can connect to a 4K tv, but will not provide the 4K feed to it).

C61K Mini Genie Client (wired only at this time) on 4K tv.

Remember Client has no tuner of its own, uses 1 from the Genie.

4K tv must support HDCP 2.2, HDMI 2.0, and 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)

Directv Installation, 4K tv must be there

Package Select or above as of 12/15/2016 (used to be only Ultimate or Premier). So only the Family package will not get 4K service at all. (Packages expired/grandfathered before that will not get the 4K channels)

Only a couple channels in 4K (plus some PPVs)

Thank you. NOT for 4K TV.

This installation is NOT for 4K. Also, I thought there was a wireless way that they could be installed.

The C61K/C71WK minis are the only ones that output 4K.  You would need a C61W and a WVB (Wireless Video Bridge) connected by coax to the SWM splitter to wireless connect to the HR54.

If this is not for 4K, then why ask about C61K? That is the 4K model per the 'K' in the model number. Like most clients, it is wired only.

The wireless clients are C41W and C61W, note the 'W' in the model number.

That requires a wireless video bridge (WVB) which is wired onto the coax serving as the antenna to any wireless clients you have. The purchase and setup of the WVB is $99, as it is an owned accessory not covered by any free upgrade you might have. The wireless Mini Genie Client is the one-time lease cost of $99 unless you have a free upgrade. Whether free or the lease cost, it comes with a 24 month service agreement.

We have told you. You need a C61W mini and a WVB connected to the SWM splitter.

There is a way to have a wireless option, which I explained in my prior post.

Just remember the wireless option is C61W, not C61K. And you add $7 for the additional client/TV to your monthly bill of course in addition to any one-time charges to set it up.
