Thanks @shannon02

The reason I asked, is

I have no other tvs or DTV receivers in the house.

However, I can view the setlist of the HR54 on my smart phone via direcTV app. A desktop PC cannot view the setlist via Ethernet connection to the HR2000W.

I have been paying $3.00/ mo for two years for whole house dvr service and have no interest in watching a television show on my phone.

Is that considered whole house dvr?

Ahh I think the question was misunderstood. It is more about required as opposed to minimum.

The Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) is DirecTV's Advance Whole Home HDDVR. As such it requires Whole Home DVR, just like all HD boxes require HD service. So even if you have only 1 TV, as long as you have a Genie then Whole Home DVR is required. Think of it this way, it is 5 tuners as opposed to a 2 tuner DVR so like just over 2 DVRs in one.

The minimum to use Whole Home DVR, when it is optional, is a HDDVR and HD non-DVR, oldest compatible HR20 and H21 respectively.

So you have the Advance Whole Home HDDVR (Genie) which makes Whole Home DVR a required service.

Thanks for the explanation @Juniper

That's cool to pay only $3.00/mo for 5 or 6 tuners
