Whole-home DVR only works on 2 of 3 receivers

My WHDVR used to work fine. Then my primary receiver died and DirectTV sent me a new receiver. I reconnected the blue ethernet cable that enables WHDVR, but the two receivers don't see each other.

HOWEVER, when I bring a third receiver from my other address, receivers #2 and #3 see each other, but receiver #1 (the one with the blue ethernet cable) does not see the other two, and the other two don't see it.  In summary, the receiver that has the blue ethernet cable (what I consider to be the primary receiver in this setup), does not "participate" in the sharing of receivers.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Thanks all for your suggestions. A tech came out today and solved the problem.  To put it simply, he removed the DECA adapter and said it is not required, in fact causes it to not work, with the HR24/500 box.  He said the adapter is for older boxes.  I had removed the RJ45 cable from the box, but the key was removing the entire DECA from the box.  Then that box was able to share programming with the other box.

What are the model numbers of all receivers and which one is connected to the Ethernet cable?

What are the models of each box?

Which one is not communicating with the others?

All boxes should be connected on the coax (not just the ethernet on the adapter)

That 3rd box, is it a different account? If it is, then it is not intended to work with them as they are on separate services so might cause issues.

On a side note, if it is the same account at two different addresses then be aware you are violating the service (Account Sharing) as is for a single residence. Physical address determines allowed locals, what sport teams and regional sport networks are in-market, and the taxes you are obligated to pay. Usually they don't care too much for occasional usage (vacation cabin, etc.), but the big issue is if both places are in use constantly at the same time.

Thanks for all the questions.

Recvr #1 (with WHDVR adapter) - HR24/500 - This one does not communicate with the others.

Recvr #2 - HR24/500

Recvr #3 - (sometimes at this address, sometimes not) HR24/200

    #3 and #2 DO see each other

All are NAMED, set to SHARE PLAYLIST, on SAME ACCOUNT, and connected to COAXIAL cable.

Side note: I have two service addresses on this account. I am at one place or the other (house or cabin).  Never using the service at both addresses at same time.

The problem is you can't connect Ethernet cables to the HR24s when using Whole Home doing so disconnects the built in DECA, you need a DECCA BB connected to the router then coax to the SWM splitter or leave the Ethernet cable disconnected and lose internet.

Thanks Shannon02.  There is no router at this address (no internet at the cabin).  This all worked fine until I got the new  HR24/500 (Recvr #1).  I don't know what model the old #1 receiver was, when this worked.

@djchawk you can buy a wireless Cinema Connection Kit (CCK) to solve this issue because the CCK uses the HR24’s coax output rather than Ethernet output. The CCK will both connect the HR24 to the internet (On demand/TV apps, etc.) and allow for the HR24 to have Whole home DVR with the other receivers in the house. The only catch is that the Cinema Connection Kit only works on SWM systems.

Thanks Shannon02 and Detuch254.  Shannon02 made me realize the blue ethernet cable coming from the Connected Home Adapter (DCA2SR0-01), is not required for whole-home DVR.  So I disconnected it and restarted the receiver, hoping I would now be whole-home networked, but that didn't help.  But the other two receivers were still networked, proving the ethernet cable has nothing to do with WHDVR (thanks Shannon02).

I may try the CCK that Detuch254 suggests.  But I will call a CSR first and give them one more shot at fixing my problem, before I spend money on a CCK.

Then why are you connecting an Ethernet cable to it?  That is only needed for internet.  Whole Home uses the coax.

Don't buy a CCK that is only needed to add internet.  The fact you have a connected home adapter means you had an older receiver but you don't need it as that is only needed to connect to the internet.

@shannon02 I recall from prior experience that the CCK allowed all the receivers to see each other on the network initially. It enables wireless networking through all receivers, it will most likely work each time when the OP brings in the HR24.

if you plug anything into the Hr24 RJ45 Jack -it disables the Moco function. Remove the rJ45 and reboot the Hr24 and all will be good
