Why didn't my complete program record?
We have the newest DIRECTV Whole Home Equipment where all the TV's are connected to one tower. We have the DVR set to record General Hospital at 3:00 PM every day. Tonight when my wife went to watch it it played for about two minutes and then showed the Delete or not message like it was at the end of the show. The show started at its regular time and there were no power outages in the area. Neither of us were even in the TV room all day so there was no chance of changing anything by mistake. The DVR shows 96% free so there is plenty of space on the drive. What happened??

Either someone stopped the recording in progress by accident or there was a system error. Doesn't need to be a full power outage, but a small surge or blip could cause an issue. At the very least make sure your equipment is not connected to a "smart" power strip, just regular surge protector or outlet directly (and power cord is secure of course).
Sounds like you have the Genie-2 (HS17) as that is the only Headless Server tower to date. It is the newest setup but restricts you to clients only. That means everything is dependent on one box to work. It functions better since original launch, but as it is built on purpose to be restrictive it is a downgrade to some of us. A regular Genie and 2 HDDVRs already beats it out in capability and reliability.

This can also be a signal problem.

Unless we have spooks no one stopped the recording progress by accident. We have other digital equipment that is very susceptible to power outages. Even a blip will cause their clocks to stop and nothing was out of order. The skies were sunny with no storms in the area so nothing to cause a signal loss. Even so when that does happen I get a notice in the recorded program that some of the program may have been interrupted. It never just stops. I do agree on the downgrade though. We had a HR 34 and a HR 24 set up on a whole home network before. The HR 34 failed and they replaced both units with the Genie 2. I liked the old set up much better.

Just possibilities. Sounds like just a recording glitch then.
Your HR34 failed and they replaced both units? You got scammed by an agent then. A warranty replacement would have gotten HR44 or HR54, which would be a big improvement over the original HR34. And you would still have had your HR24 for independent reliability plus everything you already recorded. The Genie-2 (HS17) was not warranty but an "upgrade". That means you got a 24-month service agreement for no real benefit.

I wanted the HR44 or HR54 as the replacement but the customer service person I was talking to said they were not sending those out anymore so I guess I got scammed. The reason I never took the free replacement of the HR24 included in the service agreement was they wouldn't replace it with another DVR if I already had the HR34. They did replace the HR34 and HR24 with the HS17 at no extra cost and called it a warranty replacement not an upgrade at the time.

Either agent scammed you or because of being new/outsourced didn't properly understand difference between ordering warranty replacement and upgrade. It has to be like for like to be a warranty replacement. The Genie and Genie-2 are separate equipment lines, plus the Mini Genie Client. The order confirmation would show the 24-month agreement as was actually an upgrade.
The following are different lines of equipment. Going from one to another is an upgrade.
Genie: HR34, HR44, HR54 (and revised HR54R1)
Genie Lite: H44
Genie-2: HS17 (revised model after first year, but they didn't add R1 to model)
Mini Genie Client: C31 thru C61
Wireless Mini Genie Client: C41W and C61W
4K Mini Genie Client: C61K
Regular HDDVR: HR20 thru HR24
HD non-DVR: H20 thru H25
Hopefully the new co-owner of DirecTV will come out with full receivers again. AT&T wanted all customers to fit one mold with the Genie-2 as it only allows Clients.

I guess I was not paying attention. I didn't even realize AT&T didn't own DIRECTV anymore. I've had DIRECTV for many years and liked them better before AT&T took over. Hopefully the new owners will be more customer oriented.

AT&T still owns (70%) DirecTV. But I do hope the new co-owner is more in charge on the operations. I really want them to change equipment direction to individual options per TV instead of forcing everyone into an all-in-one setup.

No the missing recording was not a repeat. The program showed it recorded like every other day but after 2 minutes it was over. It even showed the option to delete or not like it usually does at the end of regular recorded programs.

There are times it will not record GH. Even though I have it set to record All episodes rather than first run episodes. There were a few times where GH was preempted and they showed the episode the next day. For some reason it didn't record those episodes at all and the R was missing on the program for that date. That was actually the scenario that happened this time. The day before it was cancelled because of the Jan 6th news coverage. Because this happened to us before I made sure the guide showed an R for the program in the morning and indeed it did record but only for 2 minutes.
