Winegard RoadTrip minimax
I have a Winegard RoadTrip Minimax and want to connect it to a HR44-500, what would i need to do to make them work together?

Get a SWM dish on a sled or tripod mount or a self aiming dish mounded on the roof. DTV removed the 18" round dish from the setup menu so when the receiver can't find the HD channels on the 99/103 sats it throws the 771 error code. That dish only gets the 101 sat that no longer has any MPEG2 SD channels and no local channels. I'm not sure if the HR44 will work with the MPEG4 channels that are being broadcast on the 101 sat.

The Genie (HR44 is 2nd generation) requires a SWM setup with a DirecTV MPEG-4/HD capable dish.
DirecTV has also been in a slow shutdown of the MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. So these changes also affect non-Genie setups.
Going forward you will need a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount or the Winegard Trav'ler. Other dome/dishes are HD capable for Dish, but not DirecTV.
Change in an era, so thankfully this doesn't happen often. Unfortunately many RVs and the like have the old setups and mobile dish/dome makers can still unload their stock while they technically can work with some older setups in some areas until the shutdown of the legacy feeds is complete.
