Winegard Trav'ler in my RV - no receiver came with it - what receiver do i need?

See subject. I have the dish itself, the dish controller, and the power inserter. What receiver model do I need for this to work? The dish controller seems to work, though the dish never finds a satellite signal (searching... endlessly).

Any H or HR receiver will work with that dish even the Genie1 &2 series.

To be sure, do you already have DirecTV service that you are paying for? Just checking as wouldn't be the first time someone thought they could get free TV if they had the equipment.

You need a DirecTV receiver to find a signal. Also, you need the DirecTV version of the Trav'ler, so make sure you don't have the Dish Network version.

DirecTV box starting with H or HR is what you need. If you already have service with H and/or HR models, then an R22 would work as well (special model, like an HR22 in hiding). Only if you already have R22 active on the account. They are not reactivating them.

If you have any models starting D or R (other than the R22 in the right setup as mentioned), then you have a legacy MPEG-2 setup that must be replaced regardless of the Trav'ler. This is because DirecTV is in the middle of shutting down their outdated MPEG-2/SD-only feeds.

Even if a receiver came with your RV, you couldn't use it. Receivers are not customer owned, meaning they get returned to DirecTV (or recycled if too old a model). They cannot be transferred customer to customer.

Owned was from the old MEPG-2/SD-only days. Those boxes are useless now.
