Gemini Air

I just got my brand new Gemini Air to beta test.  So far so good, The only issue that I had was it did not want to install the first time and needed a restart.  The whole setup process took about 45 mins.  I really see no difference between the Gemini/Osprey Box and the Gemini Air other than the picture quality is slightly better and the wifi speeds to the device are better.  So far so good hopefully no major issue arise.  Just putting this out in case anyone might have any questions about it.

@JAL123  If doing a reset with the button does not work I would try doing a factory reset to force it to update!

The light flashes red.  When I reset it the directv screen loads for a few seconds and then stops loading and the light flashes red again.

@Cheriv69  Usually, when it is flashing red it is not picking up a wifi signal.  I would try rebooting your router and then try reloading it.  If your router is located a distance away there could be some kind of interference causing a weak signal which is causing it to blink red.  If resetting your router does not work then try rebooting your air  by pressing and holding the button until the air displays resetting.

Already have done all of that multiple times I have 5g internet my original box works fine as well as my firestick.   I reached out to directv again today and was told that they are sending me a new one.   So the agent yesterday just didn't know how to handle the situation.

3hen you reset you need to hold the reset until the TV shows a snowy screen…then release 

that will do a true reset….I went thru the same thing you have experienced 

until I figured out on my own that it has to be held down for about 1 full minute

Tried the red button reset and the factor reset.  It would not download current software.   It does have kernel version of July 3, 2023, but still has April security patch.

Have any Beta Testers received anything from Directv asking anything about their Gemini Air?  Just curious as I have not received anything to give them feedback about the operation of the device.  I am just wondering because was told that we would receive emails from them asking questions and have not gotten anything.

@Tiger593 I haven't either. I think someone on Reddit said they received an email with 1 question. Asked how much i would recommend dtv. scale 1 to 10.

I have done 3 surveys and just received the third the other day. It asks about all parts of the service and device: how often it fails, features you would want added, etc.

I have not received any surveys either and wish I would .  I want to bring to their attention about the audio video sync issues I experience to the point I can't watch.  I reset and it improves for awhile but then it's bad again.  I have it directly connected to a HDMI port on my TV and I thought maybe the sound bar contributes to it but the same lag exists when I use the TV speakers.  It's most notable on programs with dolby atmos and HD or Dolby Vision . It's a little better on the standard HDR program but still there is that lag.

I haven't received a survey either and mine stopped working after 3 months.   I was told that they were sending me a new one but I didn't get the air as a replacement just a normal box.   So my review wouldn't be a good one anyway because I had sync issues as well.  I can't have the audio and picture out of sync drives me crazy.

Anybody else noticed that the Google play store on the Gimini air device has not received the Google play protect certification don’t know why I thought it was odd

Anyone know if it can be IP controlled?  If so it would help with controlling it in Control4.

Because IP controlled is a lot more reliable then IR
