Order box through Roku

I signed up for streaming through Roku since it wouldn't let me sign up online. I don't see any options for ordering a box.

Is there any way to order a box/remote?

What he is  saying is when he was on his Roku device and opened up the DIRECTV stream app. There are two options, sign in, or try Directv stream. If you select try Directv stream, you can sign up for Directv stream through the DTV app on Roku . When you do this, a Directv stream account will show up on the Directv website, but there is no way to order the box for an account that is being billed by a third-party ( Roku). You can, however buy a used box from somebody on eBay or Facebook marketplace, etc., when you plug it in, it will ask for your user ID, simply use the user ID you used when you signed up through Roku, and you should be able to use a box with your Roku account with the unlimited DVR, if that's what you got
You just need to make sure the box you were buying is not tied to the other persons username. They need to go onto their DIRECTV stream account and toggle off the "auto sign in" feature. Otherwise, if you plug the box in it will automatically sign in to their account.

Advice.....do not buy a box from Ebay. Once your trial thru Roku ends --why not sign up for the trial thru the Dtv Stream website and order a box there? Is that where you said your Credit cards aren't being accepted?

Correct, I’ve tried a few different cards and email addresses.

I had the exact same issue. DYV stream would not accept my payment no matter what card I used so I signed up through Roku and purchased the box 3rd party from Facebook Marketplace locally.

When you signed up thru the Roku app---were you asked for an email address? But you said you can sign into the Dtv Stream website?

When you sign in through ROKU you are required to give an email address. This becomes your DTV username. If you go to the DTV website you can log in under the username /  email you used on the Roku.  There is no option to purchase a box if you sign ip this way.

As I understand it, the box is only available to new subscribers who subscribe from the website and not available from 3rd party providers. Currently, subscribers who sign-up via the website receive a $10 discount for 12 months that basically covers the charge of the DirecTV stream device. So you are missing out on receiving a free device. Also, by going through the website, the box is registered to the subscriber and shows up as a device in your account which you can manage. You can also purchase additional boxes from your account. Also, they state that unlimited DVR is only available via the online website to new subscribers.

jc6845,

bcbsncjlj is giving you some very good advice here and everything he say I know to be the truth as Directv stream says it.

Yeah, well, Directv is also supposed to sell you a refurbished box that has been untied from the previous owners account. I received a refurbished box, and when I logged in it auto signed me into someone else's account, then Directv refused to remove them as the primary on the device. So now I have a $50 brick that came directly from Directv.

If you have your receipt from DirecTV Stream, then should be able to get another one. The warranty is 1-year on that box. Go through Twitter or Facebook and discuss with a rep.

4CDAD,

That's a first that I have heard of that one on a box coming straight from Directv.

I have heard of people getting into those jams when buying other than from DirecTV (i.e. Ebay, craigslist and from friends).

Like bcbsncjlj said they should replace that quickly.

@4CDAD  You said 3 days ago on another thread, you bought the box from someone on Facebook Market. Then claimed you did a 3 way call with Dtv. If you bought this from a 3rd party...then that's on you. U should have bought it from Directv. Contact the person from Facebook Market and get a refund from them

Directv confirmed that they sold that box directly to the other user. He confirm that was not his user ID, and Direct TV confirmed, the box had never been activated after they sold it as a refurbished unit . Why is that so hard to understand? They did not properly scrub the box before they sold it. That's the point I'm making, the notion that  "you should've bought it directly from Directv" as if that's some guarantee that you're going to get a quality product just isn't true
