Privacy Notice Pop-Up Wont Go Away, Cant be turned off
I just installed directv using gemini and internet. every time we put on one channel, we get a pop-up saying to go into settings and make privacy selections. in the settings selection, there are no privacy selections. basically, there seems to be no way to make the pop-up go away. After speaking with 10+ people in directv support, I have reset the box, hard reset the box, reset the TV, installed a firmware update on the TV, turned off every privacy setting on every app installed on the TV and directv -- still it shows up. In searching the internet, I found someone on Reddit having the exact same issue -- I cant paste the link here for some reason but its under the heading " Can anyone help me figure out how to remove this" in the directvstream section. It has a photo of the issue. I spoke with a rep from Hisense about my TV and incredibly, when she looked at the photo I sent her, she said her father started getting the same pop-up a few weeks ago on his samsung TV. And, a guy I played golf with yesterday told me he started getting it too a few weeks ago. So its not my TV and its not my gemini box. I have spoken with a second tier person at Directv but he doesnt seem to have an answer either.
Help.

Hi, @mwinston. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by the on-screen pop-up. Try these steps:
1. Press "Home"
2. Go to "Settings" located at the bottom of the left side panel.
3. Go to "Account"
4. Go to "Legal and Privacy Notices"
5. Click "OK" on "Privacy Policy"
Let me know how it goes. Mark, DIRECTV Community Specialist

you are missing a screen that lists terms and conditions, privacy policy, Nielsen and your privacy choices. The privacy policy selection just has a long document, the choices lists a website to go to. Been here, tried everything. And if you go to the website and make privacy choices it does nothing. I’ve gone through all this multiple times. My guess is it’s s glitch with an update I understand came out in early October. Alternatively it’s a glitch in the signal from the remote which is triggering some now non existent privacy option

Unfortunately he had no solution. No one at DIRECTV appears able to solve this problem.

If you're getting a screen similar to the one on Reddit, that's a TV pop-up, not a Gemini/DIRECTV one. Try this: to turn off privacy features on a Hisense TV, you can:

I’ve gone through every option on the Hisense TV and none have any impact on this pop up. There is no option similar to No 5 above. The pop up only appears when selecting channel 12 with the DIRECTV remote. Also, the Hisense rep I spoke with told me her father was getting the same pop up on his TV and it’s a Samsung. It only started for him a few weeks ago for him. My golf buddy has same pop up on his direct tv and it just started a few weeks ago - he hasn’t changed any settings at all. Hisense tech support says they don’t have any pop ups that looks like the one I’m getting

Person on Reddit posted having same issue with LG tv. So Hisense, LG and Samsung TVs having this issue. Not having it with my Sony tv.

So with some reddit help and some guess work I figured out solution. Google OS uses an app called Live TV. Something in DIRECTV signal triggers something on the secure viewing or interactive setting. These need to be turned off. To do that, on your tv select settings, input, tv, channels and then turn off the above 2 settings. I needed to make an antenna using a coat hanger to scan for channels since you have to have at least one active broadcast channel to access the Live TV menu.

Note the above is on the TV menu not DIRECTV menu

I have a Google tv / Hisense and have never seen this issue.

Seems like it’s random for certain channel/tv combinations. Local friend has same issue with same channel on DIRECTV. Guy on Reddit has it with a different channel in a different area. Go figure.
