Beware DTV calls that give you a FREE trial period for premium channels
I received a short call last night saying that I would get a free STARZ preview. No mention of cost or auto billing that would
start at the end of the free period.
This morning I had an email saying "Thank you for contacting DIRECTV. We are processing your change of service request."
I checked my programming at their website and STARZ had been added to my bill. I called DTV and the representative confirmed that
it had been added to my service (not free).
I had the DTV rep remove STARZ from my programming. Now waiting to see if it shows up on my next bill.

I assume it was DTV b/c the service was added to my bill. The caller did not request
any personal info.

I just saw my bill. There is a charge for what looks like one day of service. I actually called and cancelled within about 14 hours of the phone call from DTV. If you assume the same thing happened to only 10% of customers, that adds up quickly. My guess is that the salesperson was working on commission and is using this tactic to pad his paycheck. Hopefully DTV is NOT encouraging this tactic???

If legitimate offer you receive a flat credit for Starz for 3 bills. Charging starts day added, meaning partial charge for remaining days in bill month. Upon removal you get a partial credit for remaining days of bill month, which if at the 3 month mark would equal out. Unfortunately a lot of outbound sales do not set the expectation on that.

Could also be the $10 early termination fee for ending before the first month.
