False. They do beleive that exixts.

Bill goes past due. Next bill late fee and notice of date it would be suspended by. Once suspended you have to pay balance in full to reinstate service. Partial payments of past due do not prevent account from being canceled and later going to collections.

I this morning I sign in to the account on line to set up another payment the account did not exist,

Once account is in a canceled status, the online access to it is no longer available. You call DirecTV to discuss the account, or in your situation the collection agency to settle the balance.

chrge  5.00 service fee,

When you make a payment over the phone, or order a PPV, with a live agent the system charges a $5 phone transaction fee. It is not that the agent wants to charge it as it is done by the system. Like many other companies, they have this to encourage customers to use self-help options for basic things to free up customer support for other calls.

ill report them to FTC.

For what? You got behind on your bill and your account was addressed the consequences like any other customer. A personal hardship on your part does not consitute a waiver of your bill on their part. Their option is that before you are past due you contact them to see if you can setup a payment arrangement, which is simply extending the amount of time before account would be suspended (doesn't waive any late fees). But once suspended the only recourse is pay balance in full, which you did not manage.

Yes the pandemic has caused problems all around, and certainly compounded that you got sick from it. However, it did not require that companies give you a free pass on your bills until some uknown time in the future that you might be able to pay them.

End result, you didn't pay your bill. DirecTV was full in their right to shut you off. That is the reality of financial responsibility.

I have been a long-time DirecTV customer. I got help years ago on the forum and started participating to help others like I was. Because of the guidance and accurate information I provided, I was given the opportunity to join the ACE group, which is volunteers of other customers. I am not a DirecTV employee, simply an experienced customer.

The information I provided was factual. I may be blunt in my responses, but it is polite with information intended to provide help and guidance, which sometimes might just be a realistic perspective of the situation. There was not attitude beyond that.

First you want to report DirecTV to FTC because they held you accountable for your bill. Now you say "if you know so much why dont you paid my bill". Like DirecTV, it is not my responsibility to pay your bill for you. I get you are in a rather rough situation right now, but that doesn't mean that others must take over what you owe.

Based on what you mentioned, since your DirecTV balance was sold off to the collection agency, you must discuss with them now to settle the amount. Though an entertainment company like DirecTV or the collection agency is under no obligation to cover the bill for you, as an alternative you could see if there are any government assistance programs that might help with the situation you find yourself in.

If ever you are past due with a company again, or realize you will be, contact them as soon as possible. Payment arrangements at minimum need to be set before the account has service interrupted, though some out there require it requested before it goes past due. And when budget is tight, discuss reducing service to save costs as you could always raise back up later when comfortable for you.

By posting on a public forum you invited others to weigh in on your situation. My opinion is no less valued than yours.

Unfortuantely for your situation, the bottom line is you went past due on a bill to the point it went to collections. There is nothing to report to the FCC or demand that other customers or DirecTV cover your bill for you. In the end, this your financial responsibility, nothing more. The tough spot your family is in doesn't change that.

Instead of verbally attacking others to give you money that they are in no way obligated to do so, I would (calmly and politely) look into assistance programs out there (governmental and any private ones, nationally or local) that might be able to help keep you on your feet. Better to choose a more mature path to improve your situation.

In any case, this discussion can go no further as nobody here has access to your debt or the obligation to cover it.
