Deceptive trade practices

I've had an account with DirecTV for 21 years, and getting so tired of the deceptive trade practices being practiced by this company. They constantly do bait and switch causing you to upgrade to get the channels you used to get for a lesser price. I'm now canceling my account since they have canceled all the news channels and want me to pay extra to get them back and they haven't lowered my price per month for the lesser service that they're offering and they never announced it, and never communicated that they were going to remove the news channels from my plan and I don't consent to this, I consider this an illegal modification of my account and agreement with them.

No provider guarantees channels on specific tiers. They merely guarantee service.

What channels were "canceled" and in which ways? (I doubt this is true.)

We're sorry to see you go, @Thomashunter64. Select customers may get certain complimentary channels and services at no extra cost but will eventually be discontinued within a certain timeframe. I simply want the same channels I still pay for, but around 3 months ago, you arbitrarily decided to cut off the news channels without informing me. I still pay the same amount, but I received less, that's simple theft. Your company is a den of thieves and I hope you go bankrupt.

I should pay less, since I am receiving less. There was no email, no info put out that all the news channels would go away. For every channel I lost, you owe me, since I paid you for them and you never informed me that I would no longer receive those and other channels. Bunch of thieves.

Again, what channels did you lose?

And again, no provider guarantees channels to a specific tier. Contracts change. It happens with U-Verse (they didn't have Hallmark or NHL Network for years and they last had Sportsnet Pittsburgh in a year with double zeros in it) and it happens with Spectrum and Comcast too. The RSNs disappeared from Dish years and years ago. Almost no streaming provider has any of the RSNs and there's no plan for them to go back. Fubo lost all NBC channels last year.

If you wish to pay less, you'll have to call up for a discount. Discounts are temporary and not guaranteed.

Like all TV providers, DirecTV has a clause that channels may change at any time. They don't own the channels, so for a variety or reasons channels may be off temporarily, permanently, or even move tiers (if they get a new carriage agreement with the channel owner).

Those channels changing do not reduce cost. Channels continuously raise their costs to TV providers each time their carriage agreement goes up. Even if any channel goes away, it does not make up for the other channels increasing their costs. As such there is no automatic reduction of price.

However, there hasn't been some massive realignment on news channels. Instead of making false accusations out of anger, why don't we get to the facts of what is actually going on. What exact channels are you referring to? What is the exact name of your package?
