Directv App can't find receiver
I was recently upgraded to Genie2. Everything works fine at home now but my directv app isn't recognizing the new receiver. It searches for a receiver and then says receiver not found. I try to enter the ip address for the new tower and it says it can't find it. It is as if it is still looking for the old receiver. My tower is connected to the same network as my phone. I have tried it both with an ethernet cable and wirelessly. I have rebooted, reactivated everything I can think of. I have changed my password. I have spent hours on the phone with technical support and they tried everything they could think of but nothing helps. Anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks!

I agree with calling the Office of the President though they didn't help resolve the issue in my situation. I believe the core of the issue is improper deactivation of old equipment/activation of new equipment. I shared that with various customer service reps and they had no idea how to help. After months of issues, the problem was only resolved when a tech brought a new box and called whatever internal deactivation/activation department that exists at DTV and made sure that the process went through correctly. I had access to DTV apps/live streaming before he left my house that day - took about an hour for the whole process. Some people have had better luck reaching the right person at DTV via phone to resolve the issue, but I probably spoke to 12-15 different reps over the course of many months and no one was able to help until the tech physically came out. Hope this helps!

After 22 years in a total hostage situation because I loved the NFL Sunday Ticket and not DirecTV, I am happy to say that I am about to be freed! Liberated! Just overall about to breathe a breath of fresh air called YouTube TV! I can’t do it with DirecTV anymore. The customer service has been atrocious, as is evidenced by tonight when I called to say that for whatever reason, the DirecTV App doesn’t work with the remote, so I can’t even update the Library on my iPad or iPhone…I just can’t do it anymore…This is the most abusive relationship I’ve ever been in…It’s like being married to a drunk named Hank or something…You hope things get better, but you know you’re going to get your ass kicked when he comes home! That’s where I am with DirecTV…1991 has called and they want their big dish back! I’m going over yonder where the 21st Century is on the Horizon and stuff works the way it’s supposed to…I’m sorry DirecTV…It was a fun run…But I just don’t have the energy to sit on the phone for 8 hours a day anymore trying to figure your crap out with or for you…I’ll never get that time back…Ever!

You own the dish, DTV doesn't want it back.

To cancel DirecTV you call them. Ranting in the forum, in a thread from over a year ago, does nothing to your account.
DirecTV didn't exist in 1991, they started in 1994. Either way, if your receiving dish is that old you were working on outdated SD-only equipment. Those feeds are shutting down as it is an HD world now.
When you cancel, only the receiver/client boxes get shipped back to them (if still returnable models, otherwise recycled instead). Everything else, including the receiving dish, became yours upon install.
This forum is customer to customer where we try to help each other out, similar to other company forums. Whatever company you go to, if you have issues then I would suggest hoping onto the appropriate forum to get help instead of the first post telling others you are canceling. Would be more productive and could save you from a lot of frustrating time.

I was being sarcastic Jesus…Lol…But I’m out DirecTV is not solution-based and the issue I am having is their God-awful “new app” doesn’t find the iPad, and then I lose features now because you can’t even watch shows on the iPad now! The app sucks…Admit it! And I’m gonna burn the dish on the way to the off-ramp! And trust me I had the 4k C61K-700 receivers—8 of them! It’s disgusting how awful this service is now

Shannon02 they are going to get it back…I’m going to virtually send it back with an NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV sticker planted firmly on it! ✌🏾
