Directv bill scam and harassment

I paid my bill with ATT/Directv ( had to or it wouldn't let me through to a person to cancel). I canceled service. Now I'm being harassed by Directv collections. Through research I found that the system was applying my payment to wireless even when I used directv account info. I attempted to pay bill with late fees removed and was told to pound sand. Was told they will keep calling and not answering till I pay. Now they are calling at 11pm at night. Told them to only contact me by mail and to provide me with a number. They just keep calling and no one is there when I answer. I'm going to file a complaint and use the call logs and recordings as evidence.

Your account was sold to a collection agency they are the ones calling and they are violating some laws.  Hard to believe that you didn't notice that it wasn't being paid.

Again. I paid and canceled..why would I look for a bill from a CANCELED service. It was a $10 service due to the  employee rate at the time. Even if it is a collection agency Directv is allowing them to "make a deal and reconnect your service at a 50% discount".

DTV has no control over the collections agency wanting to make a deal, all the collection agency wants is to make more then what they paid DTV.

When you cancel service, you still get a final statement. Ideally it shows final payment received and zeroed out the balance for your records. If there were any final charges, or an issue with that payment, it would be listed. So it is always important to be aware of that final/courtesy statement after your service is canceled to be sure all is as expected.

Calling at 11pm should be violating some regulations as I recall. And this is most likely a collection agency that DirecTV sold the balance off to.

This is a public forum of other customers. So telling us about filing a complaint and evidence you are using is in no way a threat to DirecTV.
