Feb 2021 $50.00 price increase

I'm in Georgia and my DTV charge just jumped by $50.00 per month. Not sure if a discount expired or Att is getting greedy. Anyone else seen this?

Most likely discount(s) completed. Compare to prior month's bill. What is different?

There was the annual price adjustment that occurred in the last couple months for increasing costs from the networks, but that wouldn't be $50. www.att.com/2021pricing

So review bill and see what is going on. To jump into asking people if they had the same thing happen and if AT&T is getting greedy, before understanding your bill, is a bit premature. If comparing the bills doesn't clear it up, then call customer support.

Nothing to do with being in Georgia for that $50. All your service address affects is what locals and RSNs you may get and the taxes paid.

Its probaly a mixture of both. I HATE DTV!! Dont (Edited per community guidelines) come on that is worth paying over $100 a month plus for! We are "cutting our cord & jumping for joy" for GOOD then end of this month. We have actually already been streaming shows to see if it was something we wanted to do and it is! Very few commericials, if any, in between scenes, and when watching older shows which its SOOOO many out there you can rewatch whenever you want, instead of just having to wait until your favorite old show comes on with DTV. And all these reality (Edited per community guidelines) shows DTV shows I think their prices are are paying for these celebrities salaries! Getting rid of DTV high prices is the BEST thing we could of done! Saving over $100 month and we can stream what we want when we want! GOOD RIDDANCE DIRECT TV!

Get yourself an AMAZON FIRE STICK.  I finally quit DTV and their ridiculous rate increases.  I got myself the cheapest cable subscription and added an Amazon Firestick.  I can get 99% of programs through my Firestick that DTV had me paying through the nose for. Plus I can get Discovery +, Paramount +, Disney +  Netflix....... sure, it's an extra fee but I'm not paying $250 a month either.  I pay $182 per month that INCLUDES a DVR, HD,  Unlimited Internet 100MB SPEEDS and Unlimited LANDLINE phone ( includes all long distance calls)

I also hear AT&T is looking to dump DTV...........AFTER THEY RUINED IT.

Not so much dump but get another entity to partner in financially, while AT&T maintains primary control. They do seem to have bit off more than they can chew per the challenges they have faced trying to integrate DirecTV into the AT&T umbrella.

As for pricing, they have to pay the networks a lot. So their costs go up, then so do our bills. Just the reality of how a business works.

Glad you got a special. Just remember you didn't renegotiate an ongoing price, but a temporary discount that are not always available. As for the original poster, likely wasn't reading their bills and so missed the $40 (or however much it was) off for 12, 12 of 12 verifying that was the last one. If more people would read through their bill a little more often, they would be prepared for any differences down the road.

FYI.......... I didn't get any special deal. This is their STANDARD fee.  For a Landline Phone (VoiP) it's  9.99 per month, no taxes and includes ALL calls both local and Long distance Plus Mexico and Canada. It also provides NOMOROMO Free, call forwarding, caller ID, Call waiting, call blocking.  Internet is $65.99 per month... 100mb, unlimited.  The Basic TV package with  a 2 tuner dvr and free HD is 100.99 per month + tax.  No Contracts and NO penalty for cancellation at any time.   I also just received a Credit of $20.00 from my cable provider relating to the monthly Sport broadcasting fees charged for 2020 programs that didn't happen in real time because of COVID.  Did Directv issue any refunds to it's customers???   I was a faithful Directv subscriber for 20 years....... but you guys have priced yourselves out of the market, and AT&T ownership was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

Good Luck because I see Directv  "sunsetting" like many channels they did that to, over the years.

Those "many" channels were not owned by DirecTV. So sunsetting was done by the actual channel owners. Examples of Cloo, SoapNet, and Chiller were shutdown by their owners as they consolidated their programming instead of having a one-stop-shop for a single genre that is available on their other channels.

Streaming providers are raising in cost just like traditional TV providers did shortly after their start. And streaming is not a solution for everybody. Even those of us with internet do not have good enough to support streaming on top of the rest of the household's bandwidth use. For those where it is the right option, take it. There is not one TV solution that fits everybody. But I will say I am glad that when internet doesn't work, my TV still does as they are not all lumped together in the same delivery method.

Directv is way over priced. I have been working to try to get some kind of price cut but it is futile. I have 2 roku devices and am wondering what is the best streaming options that people are using? I am going to drop directv very very soon, but I want to make sure I have another plan first. They tell me I get 190 channels, really there are only about 10 or so that we watch all the time, but to get these channels I have to buy a large package.

Check out FireStick thru Amazon.

As for the Comment by Juniper..... those channels may have left on their own............but you folks never lowered my monthly rates.  You love to pass the buck blaming those providers for wanting to charge more to carry their feed, thus you having to charge US more.  But these channels that dropped YOU is because you wouldn't pay them more, but YOU didn't credit US when they dropped DirecTv.

DTV payed the same price for those dropped channels as when they where broadcasting until the contract expired.

Directv is a huge ripoff. It used to be good, but my bill went form 80 dollars a month to 106 dollars a month and I haven't change a thing in my package. they have dropped channels that I used to watch. Like you said leewos they are not passing the savings to us they just keep jacking our prices.

Networks charge more for the remaining channels that makes up the difference from any channels they shutdown. A business cannot absorb increasing costs completely or indefinitely, so yes some gets passed on to the customer. Their price goes up, then so do ours, simple business.

And we can't lower your monthly rate as we don't control the prices. We are customers just like you. You want official support, you call DirecTV.

I did contact directv and guess what no response. Useless company. Still looking for any advice on streaming. Anyone?

The response is a extremely high number people with discounts (too much and for too long) resulted in them pulling most promos back. That is the way of things as they weed out customers who are just hemorrhaging the business. Sorry but you are not always going to get what you want.

So now people are having to wisely chose their level of service instead of living beyond their means. If you cannot afford without discounts, then you cannot afford it. And even if it is affordable, but you don't like the pricing, then it is still up to you to adjust services until they are comfortable or go elsewhere.

Streaming comes down to so much pick and choose, it depends what you watch on how many and what apps to get. Perhaps check your favorite networks to see if they have their own paid service.

JUNIPER Well then I guess directv is going to lose a customer based on what you just wrote. I can afford it just don't think it is worth what I am getting. Also who are you to say what people can afford or not? Do you know everyones financial situation?
