Incorrect late fee not removed

Your company keeps trying to bill me for a late fee that is not my responsibility. My payment was mailed on the 20th of the month and was due until after the 1st. It is NOT my responsibility to pay you extra money because either my payment sat in your mailroom or the post office did not promptly deliver my payment , This occurred in the month of December. I am wrote a letter to DirectV regarding my disputing this incorrectly place late fee charge and you are completely ignoring my attempts to reach you. If I do not hear from someone soon, we will be forced to drop your service because I want no part of a company that is this dishonest and completely ignores a customer's letter written to the billing office. Someone needs to reach out to me very soon.

This forum is populated by customers and not an official way to reach AT&T support. You'll have to call them to have your issue resolved.

It actually is your responsibility for the late fee. If you mailed a check you take the risk of it being delayed via postal service. There are alternatives to make payments that will help you avoid late fees.........like set up auto pay or log into your account online and make a payment.

Mailing payment is a risk. That risk is your responsibility, not DirecTV's.

If you don't want auto bill pay, then you can log into your account online to make payment or call and pay via the voice system. Either option posts that day (or by the next possibly if made very late in day).

You claim in your other thread to avoid other methods to avoid them having access to your money. That doesn't work. You give them your info every time you mail the payment and they keep that for the lifetime of your account.

For official support you call, but you have already gotten your answer. They don't call customers as that is not how customer support works.

Not complying with your demands does not make them dishonest. A delay of the mail is not their responsibility, but it is the risk you chose to take. You may not like it, but that is the reality of the situation. If you cannot accept that, then go ahead an cancel. Just don't be surprised the next time you deal with a late payment with another company because of the mail.

Never had another company be such a-holes. I have never had any payments arrive late with any other company. Yes I will be finding another provider. It is the principle of the reason for the later fee not the $ 6.25 charge. I will not allow a big company like ATT to push me around. I will also be dropping their cell phone service and their landline service. Been with them for more years than you have probably lived,

That is because the post office wasn't screwed up by political fallout.

You are not being pushed around. They charged you a legitimate late fee. You may not be happy about it, but the reality is they did nothing wrong. You certainly may disagree with their stance, but it is their right to charge a late fee if they have not received a payment in time. They like many other companies do not give you additional time for mail delays (regardless if holidays or something else). They have other payment options to ensure payment is on time, but you willingly refuse them.

You are not the victim here as you try and make it sound. You and DirecTV disagree on whether late fee should be counted as in their hands or in that of a 3rd party (USPS in this case). But it is their right to set the rule on that, and this is the way the billing has worked for over 20 years. You want to go elsewhere to find billing options you like better, fair enough. But throwing a tantrum doesn't change the fact they were in the right per the rules and you unfortunately were not.
