No this is in month 14. It specifically said what my rate was going to be for the 2nd year. They're making enough money where they can wait until the end of everyone's two years.
I mean if I tell them I can't make the full payment anymore I'm going to be about 8 bucks short a month because of covid, they would hit me with late fees and cancel my @$$. But it's okay for them to jack the rates up. They just lost another customer, I'm done
There is no 2 year price. Intro discounts are for the 1st 12 months. Also the service agreement does not prevent the annual price adjustment (networks charge TV providers more so they have to adjust base costs accordingly).
If you look at your prior bills you should see your intro discount, such as $30 off for 12, 1 of 12 (2 of 12, 3 of 12, etc.). Base costs changing are allowed per the Terms of Service, as all TV providers have a clause for that since they don't own the channels.
Well if you cancel over this than don't get another TV provider. They all work under similar stipulations. Don't accept service without fully reading the paperwork, no matter what a sales agent says.
I don't understand what you guys are saying. I have a 2-year contract. For the first year it was a certain amount of money. and then for the second year it goes up a certain amount of money and that's what they said the bill was going to be until the end of my contract.
Many factors affect the availability, cost and quality of programming and may influence the decision to raise prices and the amount of any increase. These include, among others, programming and other costs, consumer demand, market and shareholder expectations, and changing business conditions. Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.
I never said it was a two-year discounted rate it was discounted for the first year and then for the second year was supposed to be a certain amount of money for the remainder of that (Edited per community guidelines)ing contract. What the (Edited per community guidelines) do y'all not understand?
I understand what you guys are saying they can raise it at any time. But we have a 2-year agreement and it's specifically said what the price was supposed to (Edited per community guidelines)ing be!!!!
Ok you understand the 1 year intro price. The 2nd part is that they can increase the base costs. The service agreement allows that per the clause I referenced.
Sounds like you saw an adjustment of about $8, which should be the annual rate adjustment itself.
Here is the notice from last year:
Due to increased programming costs, we’re adjusting the price of our video packages. Periodically, the owners of television networks increase the fees they charge DIRECTV for the right to broadcast their movies, shows and sporting events.
You can review the changes at att.com/2021pricing. New rates will be in effect on January 17, 2021.
The rate for your base package may increase. If you accepted a promotional discount on your base package when you signed up for DIRECTV, you will continue to receive that discount for as long as you remain eligible. The new rates will take effect after your promotional period ends.
So not after the contact/service agreement, but the promotional period (i.e. intro discounts).
Being under a service agreement doesn't lock in price for the length of it. But for a new customer it does assure that the rates do not get adjusted until after the 1st year discounts have completed.
Thanks for the info sandblaster. But that's not what I was told over the phone. I was verbally told by representative that that was what my price was going to be. So they emailed me the agreement while I was on the phone with them. Needless to say the phone call took about 15 minutes and I was in a 2-year contract. So DirecTV can kiss my (Edited per community guidelines) I'm done. I'm hooking up my antenna getting free tv

It probably wasn’t early. You have a 2 year commitment but the introductory price is only for one year.

Discounts are for months 1-12, full price months 13-24
Early termination fee of $20 per month remaining, cancelling after discounts expire is $240 ETF.
Are you saying you rate increased before month 13?

Watch out for early termination fee if you cancel before your 2-year agreement is up.
