Returning equipment on a closed account

I closed the account on March 26,2021. I called AT&T 3 times and was told I would receive an email with a return label. I have not received it by mail or email. The 4th time I called I was told I did not need a label, just take the equipment to UPS or Fed ex and to provide the account number.  I went to Fed Ex yesterday and was told they need a return label. I called AT&T a 5th time - this time I was told the equipment did not need to be returned. She provided her name and ID and said I would receive an email to confirm this.  We verified my email address but I have not received the email.

I am not comfortable with all the conflicting info and do not want to be charged a non return equipment fee.

Yesterday I received my last bill and have a credit so I am waiting for a refund.

This is extremely frustrating!

When an account is closed an email should go out with return instructions. It is not a return label.

AT&T added DirecTV to their return program a couple years ago. They have an agreement with FedEx and UPS, so no return label needed. However it must be a participating location, usually a main/corporate store, not an outreach shipping annex or the like.

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

So use the lookup to verify a participating return location. Before making the trip though, what are the model numbers of each box? Just to verify if returnable or not to begin with.
