Scammed for the last time

Directv was fine until AT&T took over. Now the bill keeps raising even though I was a long term customer and allthe added discounts were removed.  Noted i got discounts as when they installed everything they ruined my flooring and some of my walls. I still have pictures but at the time the discount which was supposed to last over all my service and promised to never change was removed.  Then I canceled.  I got a rep to confirm with a manager to prorate me.  I only had service for several days in the new cycle but they billed me for a whole cycle. And the equipment i paid for years ago before leasing that I still have receipts for they are trying to charge me for! This is ridiculous and the sales person said they lost thier records so they don't know.  Thankfully my daughter makes money on her social media because this is about to go public! Why you trying to scam everyone????? Anyone want to get on s (Edited per community guidelines)?????

What's the "scam"?

1. AT&T spun off DirecTV last year.

2. It's been 3 years since DirecTV stopped pro-rating bills. You owe until the end of the current billing cycle.

3. Loyalty discounts are a thing of the past. Satellite providers are losing customers to streaming services and can't afford those sweet discounts anymore.

Litzdog911,

Maybe items 2 & 3 are the reason that Satellite Providers have been losing customers like crazy.

All the other types of providers will learn the same lesson eventually.

When they finally realize that if you take care of the long time customers loyalty first, instead of offering all the discounts to new customers, they will see their sustainable business.

Used to be….  You take care of the customers that stuck with you… and they’ll take care of you.

Well…..  some young punk sold them on the other model of give them freebies to join… then raise their rates.   People have caught on and they are tired of this business model.

Of course….  That young punk that’s still paying for his (Edited per community guidelines) college student loans, that invented that model, will never know what customer loyalty to a business is.

Teet….  I used to do that….  And it worked for several years… until they actually told me I was out of Mulligans.

That’s when I became a non-loyal customer.

I had DTV Sat for years snd years.

I was very satisfied with the service and quality of picture and such.

But then things started to change, as in items 2 & 3 from my other comments, and that’s when the mulligan happened.

So DTV…. And the whole industry for that matter… went to this other model and Loyalty suffers.   For me at least!!!

@Litzdog911 I guess you didn't fully read it. 1. The prorated is not removed it has to be approved by manager per contract and it was. I have both contract and did record conversation of approval. 2. If they disconnected before the end of my billing cycle charging me the full amount for only several days of service then that is illegal. If they weren't going to prorate me then they by contract have to keep services on until end of cycle otherwise its theft. 3. Loyalty discounts still happen, they only recently removed mine and others I know still have thiers. They allowed me to have copies of this for court. 4. If you read the other comments you see they are still getting thier discounts.  I was just scammed.

Oh yes, I read it. I just pointed out that all of those things in your "contract" are no longer common. In fact, they're highly unusual. Good luck with your court proceedings.

@Baylorgirl

AT&T/DirecTV stopped prorating over 3 years ago. They are not the first nor the last. This has become standard in many service industries, not just satellite TV. It is in your Terms of Service that you pay for the full cycle no matter when you cancel.

Please read this if you receive DIRECTV, AT&T U-verse® TV, AT&T Internet, AT&T Phone, and/or AT&T Fixed Wireless service(s). We want to remind you that you’re billed in advance for recurring service(s) and/or programming charges and applicable fees based on the terms of your current service agreement(s) with us. Starting January 14, 2019, subject to applicable laws, we’re updating your agreement(s) to include your recurring service(s)/programming charges and fees won’t be prorated if you cancel the above service(s) on any day other than the last day of your billing cycle. Your service(s) will continue until the end of your billing cycle but you won’t get a refund (prorated credits) for any remaining days left in your billing cycle. For products not listed above, refer to their terms of service for more information.
