telemarketers
I receive 2 - 3 unwanted phone calls a week from Direct TV offering discounted services. I have answered their calls asking to be taken off their lists. They hang up. I have contacted Direct TV and a DO NOT CALL was put in my file. I still receive these calls. How can they be stopped?

Contacting Directv does no good, it’s not Directv calling. They are either scammers or 3rd party sellers. Your best defense is to quit answering. Answering those calls just leads to more.

DirecTV doesn't call you to offer discounts. Those are crooks pretending to be AT&T/DirecTV. This is a well known scam that has gotten worse in the last year.

The area code and number continuously changes. Sometimes it is our home state area code and I don't know if it is a call I need to answer. I have blocked every number they have used but they just change numbers.

This morning 2/3/2022 at 3 minutes after midnight a Telemarketer (phone number 843-718-9854) for AT&T/DirecTv called and woke my home up trying to get me to purchase their service. Not known to them is that I've had Directv service for a few years. These telemarketers are paid to do this by AT&T/Directv. DirecTv pays the telemarketers. Contact Directv. Put in a ticket about the calls, as I'm doing , give them the number/time/date of the call. Have them investigate. Periodically call back and check on the ticket. If Directv won't provide you this service. Cancel your service. If a number of customers do this they'll probably get concerned.

Let us clarify that DIRECTV does not call to offer promotions or deals nor requesting personal information.
Please do not provide any account or personal information, that way you can keep it safe.
You can also report the number from which you're receiving those calls and register your phone number in the national do not call registry to avoid this type of calls. Keep in mind that this process may take up to 30 business days to be effective.
In addition, you can learn how to Recognize and prevent phone scams.

US based telemarketers can only call during specific hours not at midnight.

I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry, been there for years and I check each year to ensure I'm on it. As you are a telcom with resources to investigate fraud I expect that DirecTv act to protect its customers. I've provided already the date/time/ph number of the call I received 3 minutes after midnight and was provided a ticket number. Please contact whomever the regulator is and pursue legal action against those who are defaming your image, that is of course if DirecTv is indeed not paying them.

We are working to protect people's privacy and stop these calls. However, this calls are mostly scams and for that reason is very important that you help us to report the lines. Remember that DIRECTV will not contact you without your permission.
Thank you.

DTV is not a telcom, since most of these scams don't originate in the US there is not much US companies can do.

Criminals. Need to be stopped. It is not Directv's fault. If you did not ask for the call or a call back from Directv it's just the Criminals.

AT&T still owns 70% of DTV.
