Why did directv suspend my service?

Billing period was Feb. 15 - mar.16.....with a due date of Mar. 8........why did directv suspend my service on the 27th of March? That's not even 20 days!!! I called and asked could I have 2 days to pay it and they wouldn't make the deal!!! That is just pure evil!!!!!!!!

Bill is due on day 20 of the cycle (Mar 8). Cycle started over on Mar 16 and because of past due you got shut off on Mar 27th. Seems normal.

Once interrupted there is no payment arrangement as you waited too long.

Juniper, that makes since, but it's a shame they are not compassionate in today's world. Especially when the country is divided. Guess I'm just old school.

DTV is not an essential service like water or electricity so they operate as normal.

Guess compassion isn't important anymore.....ok, so along with everything else I live without, I'll add  tv.....my ssdi never aligns with the due date and I can't afford to make 2 months payment in 1 month.....BTW, I am poor through no fault of my own....I just always thought you have 30 days after due date to pay a bill.....

Instead of whining about compassion (from a business, not a charity), take financial responsibility. They have bills to pay as well. TV is entertainment so doesn't get extra protections like actual essential services.

Reduce package, suspend service (max 6 months within 12 month period), call to discuss payment arrangement before interruption are your options.

Well "old school" should be taking responsibility for one's own finances instead of expecting someone else to do it for you. Thinking you have 30 days after due date to pay bill? That has not been the case as that would be when the next bill is due, and interruption happens before then. Read the bill when it comes out and it will show the interruption date.

As someone who worked in finance for over 10 years, I was always fascinated that when we set up a loan WITH A SPECIFIC DUE DATE, customers considered that date a suggestion and not part of the loan contract.

@Juniper said it perfectly...."Old school" is holding up your end of the deal and that mean paying your bills on time.  Not the next day, not the next week, and darn sure not the next month.
