2 Receiver problems

1 receiver over heats in minutes of turning on equipment.  Have tried numerous ways to keep cool but nothing works making TV unusable.

Another receiver will not hold a program, when you hit play again TV goes blank and have to turn off TV and turn back on.

What are the receiver models? Also specify which receiver model has which symptom?

You need to call DTV to replace the overheating receiver and maybe the other one, $20 shipping for both if replaced together.

Sounds like both need a warranty replacement.

What are the models of each box?

Which has which problem?

Made sure vents are clear, box in open space, not in direct sunlight (or other heat)?

Verify coax is finger tight.

Check that HDMI is cure and free of debris on both ends between box and TV.

Make sure plugged into outlet directly or regular surge protector, not a "smart" power strip. Verify TV's HDMI-CEC (if it has it) is turned off. These don't play well with DirecTV equipment.

If turning the TV off and back on fixes it, then likely the TV is the problem on that end (or the connection between it and the box). Test with another TV, HDMI cord, or even another port on the TV if available. Helps to narrow down where the issue is coming from.

@AquaFitt I’m glad you were able to benefit from Juniper’s steps. Just be sure to answer the questions we asked earlier so we can come closer to a solution.

@AquaFitt

Glad if I was helpful to you regarding a DirecTV problem. Since you quoted my entire post, did you have a followup or question? Just wondering if you were looking for more out of your very first post.
