additional tv that is add on our mini box gets the message

additional tv that is add on our mini box gets the message

"Your Tv does not support this program content protection.  Replacing the TV HDMI cable with component cables will allow you to view the program"

it all worked when the guy set it up for us but now we have to turn on the tv that is directly hooked to the  mini box to watch the other tv that shares the mini box.  So if we are in the basement we have to go upstairs to turn that tv on so we can watch the tv in the basement.  we did not have to do that we it was first hooked up .

What can I do to get everything to work like before

Sounds like you are using a HDMI Splitter on the mini to feed the BSM'T --What is happing is a HDMI handshake issue --I suggest you add a MINI to the basement --or just leave the TV on upstairs with the volume tuned down.

If you are using an HDMI splitter then yes you need the main TV to be on because it's providing the HDCP copy protection signal that the main genie server needss to operate.

DirecTV was never intended for TVs to share a box. You are supposed to pay for each authorized TV on the service, as networks make sure to get their cut of every TV getting their programming. This is one of the reasons the networks require HDCP.

A powered HDMI splitter, that supports HDCP 2.2, may minimize the risk of the issue, but is not guaranteed. The only true way to avoid the issue, is to put a Mini Genie Client or receiver on that TV so that your setup is supported.

Sorry not the answer you're looking for.
