DirecTV dish on roof requires adjustment
My 15 year old roof needed some new shingles so we hired a roofing company to do the work. During their process, they removed our satellite dish and then reinstalled it one day later. After the dish was reinstalled, we lost all HD channels and can now only watch DirecTV on one TV in SD mode only.
Thus, we called DirecTV to set up an appointment to have our existing dish calibrated/adjusted. The first installer came over and told us that we had an old dish and would need a new one (although we had a new one installed about five years ago). The second installer cancelled the appointment without letting us know. The third installer came over and said he is not going up on our roof and that the dish would need to be reinstalled lower but that there are not any good sightlines to the sky (due to trees and adjacent homes).
So am I (Edited per community guidelines) here? Why is DirecTV forcing me to look at alternatives? Who can I call to get my dish adjusted and my service back to where it was? Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.

If the dish was installed 5 years ago, then unlikely it would be outdated. So I question the 1st techs response. Do you know the model of the dish? What are the models of each box you have?
Appointments needing to be rescheduled happens too often these days. They are short staffed on tech because of Covid. It is not a fast recovery.
To comply with updated OSHA regulations, DirecTV techs are not allowed to leave the ladder to go onto the roof. So dish must be installed within reach of the ladder. For older installs this often means installing a new dish, not relocating the existing one.
Otherwise to realign the old dish on the roof, you would need to find your own installer to do so or to do it yourself. Bear in mind that DirecTV will not service it as it remains in a location that is against regulations.

Thanks so much for your response. I learned the hard way that I am no longer able to stay with DTV so after a 21 year relationship, I had to move away. I understand and appreciate safety, but the area of my roof where my dish is currently mounted is the only place from where I can get a clear shot to the sky without any impediments.
Clearly, the “can’t leave the ladder” rule was implemented after my last install and during my goodbye conversation, the friendly DTV rep told me that she does hear about this every week where a client has to cancel service due to similar reasons. It’s too bad because I really enjoyed my DTV service for over two decades .

You might look at A/V installers in your area as well as independent dealers --They can install your dish anywhere it needs to be -as they have the required equipment to leave the ladder --Just as your roofers had to have
