How can I remove specific channels

My dad has dementia and becomes agitated at certain content (mostly news channels).  I need to remove them individually so that they do not appear in the channel line-up, do not allow him to enter the channel number directly, and do NOT show that the channel has a Parental Block.  Presently I get a parental block notification, which is undesirable.  The channel needs to disappear transparently.

A custom favorites list and using parental controls are how you can avoid access to a channel. Or possibly reducing the package to one without it, though most news channels are in all packages.

Sorry there isn't a way to make a channel disappear without some indication why.

OK, I was worried that might be the case, thank you.  It's a shame Directv engineers and developers were not able to imagine a use-case in which you would want this kind of administrative control.

They need to be transparent with why a channel is gone. Hence favorites list that most people are familiar with or giving an error message explaining. That way customer understands what is going on and if it is a technical issue or should be working as intended. Unfortunately the level of control and opaqueness you are looking for is a bit too niche when they need to have options that work for the majority of consumers.

Sorry I didn't have a more preferable answer. Hope all goes as well as it can.
