Minis can't be blocked from recording nor can HDDVRs,  parental controls can block channels, viewing hours and other things.

I suspect you have Mini Genies which are Clients, not receivers. As such they are an extension of the Genie HDDVR. As such they all record to it as they are part of it.

The only solution would be replacing them with receivers, either HDDVRs (2 tuners, 500GB recording space of their own) or HD non-DVRs (1 tuner, do not record, has autotune). Both options can watch the recordings of the Genie or other HDDVRs you have.

However if you have the Genie-2 (HS17), then you are out of luck. This one model forbids everything but Clients. As such it is a all-in one restrictive system.
