latest version of Genie? thinking of turning in the old receiver (prior to Genie)

I want to evaluate the connections, etc on the latest Genie receiver I would probably receive if I upgrade from the OLD receivers.   having more issues of sluggish responses - even in good weather, when changing channels or just responding to remotes.   even changing to new batteries doesn't really help.

thanks.

well, haven't seen much in improvement or action or even communications yet.

oh well - who knows.

I give streaming time before people complain about the cost of all the services they want.   I personally don't care for it - but that's just me.

Streaming does have its place. But not all of us have fast and stable enough internet (or internet at all) to support streaming. Yes, streaming prices have been increasing since their inception.

And one caution is a lot of networks/content owners are launching their individual paid streaming services. Think like "Disney Plus". It may seem like affordable al-a-carte now but is going in the direction of managing multiple logins with different quality interfaces at a similar price point as now.

The next 5-10 years will be very telling where TV (of any delivery method), as well as internet capability (not just for TV), ends up. Pandemic increasing usage at home has caused quite a ripple in those services.

meant to say:  i've been holding out to see what the new co-owner would do - but that is where i've seen no action/communication/improvement.

@Juniper     so that i have it correct... you recommend staying with my old  receiver if it still works.... and if i upgrade to a genie - even if i only have on receiver, i would still be charged the addtl $3 a month for whole home?   ?

I would consider a warranty upgrade.

My apologies on the typo. I meant to say warranty replacement, not upgrade.

Warranty is like for like, no new service agreement, no possibility of bill increase.

Upgrade is different line of equipment, comes with a 24-month agreement, and depending on setup might affect the bill. In your case an upgrade to a Genie would add $3. If you added a 2nd TV, then a $7 additional TV. Naturally if you upgrade to Genie adding a 2nd TV, then that would be $10 total increase as both fees are added.
