Mac Addresses
Up until a few days ago, my Genie2 had mac address on my network. Suddenly, all the mini clients have mac addresses also. I have identified all but it seems also that the Genie2 might have 2 mac addresses?????

sure, why not?
(you can have a hardwired connection and a wifi, so each could have a MAC)

While they can connect with either they can't use both at the same time.

@westway
Are you experiencing any issues or just curious about a double mac address?
Did you change between a wired and wireless connection to your router?
Any other changes before this happened?
But if no actual problems, then disregard (or red button reset if it makes you feel better) and drive on.

So, clearly the main transport from the Genie 2 to the clients is intended to be Wi-Fi.
But you are saying the Genie 2 never accesses the Internet by the Ethernet hardwire also?
I know that the "screen saver ads" are coming from the internet, as I just blocked them on my home firewall, and they stopped.
So, I don't know if it is my Gemini that is getting them, or if it is the Geni 2, but there is indeed SOMETHING in my DTV setup that is using 2 different connections.
Interesting, I am continuing to learn about how this stuff works. Getting rid of the ads was nice.

You can have wired or wireless minis as well as a wired connection to the Gemini. We knew that the screen saver ads are downloaded from the internet and told people the only way to remove them was to disconnect the internet but this is the first time hearing you can block them so if you can tell us how.
