No OnDemand content (blank screen) after activating a receiver. Solution.
I recently got a new receiver because the old one was not loading any OnDemand content. Once I activated this new receiver, all OnDemand channels were blank (i.e. black). I was told it could take up to 24-48 hours to restore the OnDemand content so I waited 2..3..5...7 days and it still didn't display any OnDemand content.
After two weeks, just hours before a technician was to arrive, the OnDemand content channels returned and everything was back to normal.
So if you are having this same problem, you might need to wait two weeks before the service is restored. It can be frustrating when nothing is happening, but be patient. Any type of troubleshooting will be useless if you've got everything hooked-up properly.
If you're having this problem and stumbled upon this forum, hopefully this information helps.
The Directv employees might want to take note of this and advise their customers in chat/phone-calls that 48 hours is normal but it could take up to two weeks. This would save a lot of aggravation on the customer's end. I know it would have for me.

It only takes a day or 2 to download the On Demand guide from the internet so why yours took so long was an internet problem.

Yes 24hrs is the norm with 48 on the far end. Yours taking 2 weeks is not normal. Either there was an internet issue somewhere in the chain between you and them (not impossible as all the increased usage at home since the pandemic has strained the network in many areas putting providers behind on maintenance) or could be another delay symptom from the new co-owner of DirecTV with all the other updates trying to go through. Just a couple strong possibilities.
In either case, glad it is working. Yes these days giving more time than normal for issues like this could be good practice, but hopefully this kind of timeframe will only be temporary.
Advising 2 weeks in the extreme because of other issues would help a few like yourself, but for the average person they would throw a fit like Veruca Salt ("But I want it NOW!"). And perhaps yours was the odd one out on this, so a one-time occurrence for how long it took. Just some food for thought. But still was reasonable advice based on what you experienced.

Use your remote --Menu-Search -(TYPE) CLEARMYBOX --Search -then Search all --your receiver will reboot and reload all software + plugins that may have corrupted when your receiver was first activated.
NOTE: when your TV picture returns after the reboot --it will still take 24 to 48 hrs for the full 14 day guide and VOD to fully rebuild.

yea, 2 weeks is abnormal, but all other network devices were working normally, and the receiver was hardwired to router. the internet service is garbage around here and needs an update, but things were just fine in the previous 5 years I had the DirecTV service in this house.
