position of satellite dish
The installer put the dish behind a bush. It works at the moment because there are no leaves on the bush. What happens when the leaves start growing next month?

Without seeing it, that’s not really something anyone here can answer. I guess you’ll find out when the leaves come in.

What I'm asking is, will they move it if necessary?

Sure they will... for money. Curious, why not a roof mount to begin with?

I assume the installer was too lazy. The whole Direct TV experience has been a nightmare.

I put a complaint in with Mastec, and I will call Direct TV as well.

Trimming the bush is not an option?
It appears the easiest solution.
As need a direct line of sight to SW sky, considering the potential snow/ice that might be on the roof... depending on where you live it would be safer during this time of year to keep it low... also makes it easier to clean snow/ice off of dish by being near ground level.

Is there a department at Direct TV that I can call about this?

"Trimming the bush is not an option?"
Doing a professional job and standing by your work is not an option?

Putting behind a bush is a concern. Unfortunate if that was the only location. There is the risk when the leaves grown in of blocking the signal. In that case, trimming the bush may be necessary.
They do not relocate a dish for free. You accepted the install with the dish in that location. The alternative was requesting they find another location or declining install.
Mastec is a 3rd party contractor, so the tech was not DirecTV employed. Generally speaking, I have not heard positive things about that particular sub-contractor.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MasTec
MasTec's original line of business was in the communications industry, constructing transmission lines and digging trenches for companies such as Bell South in Florida. Now, MasTec is a major contractor for wireless networks and broadband, as well. They construct and maintain radio towers for mobile phone carriers, and do the trenching required to install fiber optic cable. Under its subsidiary MasTec Advanced Technologies, the company is also one of the largest providers of in-home installation of DirecTV in the United States and installing residential security systems for AT&T Digital Life.

I get it. Mastec is as dishonest as Direct TV. What's not to love about American Capitalism?

If nothing else, I question the work ethic of that individual tech.
And it is DirecTV, not Direct TV. There is only a single 'T' in the brand.

Well, then, Mastec should respond to my complaint, but they haven't.

If you've contact Mastec itself (as this forum is not a method to do so) but they haven't responded within a few days, then I would consider a BBB complaint.
