Purchased receiver at estate sale, is it activateable?

Hi! I bought some electronics from an estate sale in my area, and it included an HR54-700 receiver that came with it. I want to sell this if they are activatable other customers, but when I called AT&T support and asked for help, they said it would not matter and would cost the same fee either way to activate it.

Everything I have seen online has said that some receivers can be sold/bought while others can't, so I am wanting to make sure that I will not be screwing anyone over by selling this item

No, it can't be sold. In fact it should not have been in the estate sale.

The HR54 is the 3rd generation Genie. No Genie has had a owned option, they have been lease only starting with the 1st generation HR34 and shortly after discontinued all owned options for earlier models. As such their new account system cannot reactivate boxes anymore.

Sorry but that HR54 is DirecTV property and is supposed to be returned. I would check back on that estate sale as they weren't allowed to sell it to begin with.

For reference in case those dealing with the estate need it.

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

You bought a Nice door stop --Current AT&T policy will only allow Receivers to be Dropped or added to the Original D*TV Account only!

Meaning No sale
