Upgrade to wireless receiver

I called customer service to upgrade 1 receiver to the wireless receiver and was told that it would cost me $300 or $100 with a 2-year commitment.  That is absurd!!!!! No other options.  I don't mind paying $100 but I should not have to commit to a 2-year contract.  I am ending my service on January 10, 2022 right after my NFL Package ends!!!!

If streaming is the better option for you currently, I respect that. Each must choose the provider that best fits them.

However, your assumption that one must be streaming illegally, or their hardware is inferior if they are experiencing buffering (spinning circle), is incorrect. Not all of us have good enough internet (some even no internet at all) to support streaming as our sole TV service. Internet in my area has made some small improvements, but not to the extent of supporting enough bandwidth for my household's overall usage. Unless internet is truly expanded nationwide with a high enough baseline that is stable, then satellite or cable TV remains the better option for many others.

No matter what TV provider you end up with, remember that they set the billing model and Terms of Service, not you. If later you end up not like their options that is fine, but they are within their rights to off their services in the model they see fit. Just like it is right for DirecTV to require a service agreement when providing equipment valued at a couple hundred dollars or more for free or discounted. They give you something then something of a worthwhile value from a business perspective must be given back in turn.
