Today I unplugged my hard drive and genie 2. When I plugged them back in I seem to have lost all recordings in my hard drive. Any way to get them back?

Can the hard drive on the dvr be recognized on a LAN? Thus making the transfer of recorded material easier?Also i finally just hooked up tuner 2 but it doesn't recognize it. The cable has juice but nothing special has happened, any suggestions?
