Auto sign-in

Somehow auto sign-in was turned off on my ATT set top devices. It says it can’t be re-enabled. Is there a work around. ATT tech support couldn’t help.

Devices bought from the service are autoconfigured with auto sign-on enabled

and the device defined to your account. From your account, you can disable the feature. Since you bought from another source, the device is not defined to you. Does the device show up in your account? The FAQ for disabling auto sign-on is located here Could not find one on enabling the feature. You may have to do factory resets.

Hello @rod66b, we want to clarify everything about the auto sign-in.

We know how important it is to make the log-in process easier, however once the auto sign in is turned off, it can't be turned on again. What we can do, is to try a factory reset in order to look for removing the credentials, so we can check the option to enter the log in information from the top device, HERE
you can check options to troubleshoot your DIRECTV STREAM device.

If running a factory reset, we'll need to go back through the complete setup of your device, and all of the save setting, downloaded apps, parental control setting and more will be lost, to complete this it will be needed to erase all account information from the device.

Recently found this from a post:

Auto Sign-in disabled for our streaming devices

here

To get your DIRECTV STREAM Box added to the account, it would be necessary to activate the recovery mode of the device. Please note that the device must be plugged into a working Ethernet port.

Let's follow these steps:

1. Press the red reset button. As soon as you see the logo appear with message "Powered by androidtv", reboot the box again.

2. Repeat the red button reboot on the logo 5 times. After 5 reboots, you will see logo appears without any message.

3. Then a message "System Updating. This could take a few minutes" is displayed. The box should then Download and install updates.
Remember that there is NO TURNING back at that point until the update has completed.

I bought four refurbished boxes directly from the Directv website.   All four came in one larger box.  Three of them had auto sign-in enabled.  One did not and there is no way to remedy that, as far as I'm aware.  I'm not sure how resetting the box as set forth immediately above solves the problem.  That said, I can manually input my User ID/Password and it works fine.

I have the same problem only with new boxes I have had for almost 2 years.  A couple of weeks ago we started having to login nearly every time we started watching tv.  The instructions for the 5 red button resets do absolutely nothing.  I have now been on HOLD with DirecTV for almost 3 hours.  Apparently their customer support rep is on hold for the DirecTV tech support line... the level of disorganization of AT&T is incomprehensible.  I'm ready to pull the plug, cut the wire, or what ever else its called to rid myself of these boobs.

@subseaguy

just to let you know, AT&T no longer owns DIRECTV  or DIRECTV STREAM, they are separate services. TPG has a 30% stake.
