Alleged AT&T solicitors came to my door
Has anyone had people saying they're with AT&T come to your door? I had a couple men come to my door trying to sell me on a deal with Direct Tv and offering a "better deal" even after I told them I'm with AT&T and happy with my current service and cost!

Door to door salespeople have been selling AT&T services since Day 1.
I've had Uverse for almost 9 years and that's how I first learned of Uverse.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

@dhershberger That was new customer pricing or just some of their usual lying. They told another user he'd get Ultimate DirecTV and 45M Internet for $65/mo (on his order sheet). He got the bill for $165 and was hopping mad.

ATT may not send people to solicit business but the ATT franchise stores do. The same person keeps coming to my neighborhood. I told him that I have UV for over 6 years and that I am satisfied. He came back about 2 weeks later trying to get me to switch to DTV. I had DTV for over 15 years before switching to UV. He would not take NO for a answer. So I asked to see his solicitors permit. My city requires this permit for anyone going door to door including religious solicitors. I told him if he came to my door again that he would leave me my choice but to call the police and report him and his employer. Have not seen him or any of his associates since.
I didn't want to threaten him but sometimes you have to do this to get the message acrossed.

I believe that was true. In the past if someone came to your door it was either a contractor or authorized retailer/reseller but I do believe, at least in some markets, actual ATT employees now go door to door.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
I would NEVER, and I mean NEVER, EVER buy a product from a door to door solicitor, especially from a middle man peddling something like internet service, there are just too many possiblilities for problems, and in general you can NEVER trust the information you get from D2D sales people, they LIE all the time, and when they tell the truth it is the RARE exception. Best bet is to order your AT&T U Verse, or any other internet service directly from their official website ATT.com

I got a great deal from a door to door salesman. He was out busting his rear to do his job and I checked it out and yeah! I mean heck yeah! He saved me a bunch of money and I was happy to get Direct TV! I've been with them for a year now and it's great!

I'm on the do not knock list at city hall. Doesn't Att have to adhere to city policies? In addition, I have a no solicitation sign which this woman definitely read but ignored! My husband is a 100 percent disabled veteran and he answered the door. This woman was bossy and belligerent with him. I had to tell her "No, No "over and over and only when I said leave me information and I'll call Att did she suddenly switch tactics and say this is a one time deal and only today. My husband came in and shut the door. We are elderly and if it is Att's policy to abuse city laws and no soliciting signs I will never have anything to do with Att.

Any company sending door to door sales people should send them in fully marked vehicles. THESE FOLK HAVE VERY DARK AND TENTED WINDOWS., DRIVING UP TO ANYONE'S HOME, SHOULD KEEP RIDING. REAL COMPANY'S SEND REAL ATT TRUCKS , ATT, shirts, badges, hats and phones with ATT calling and calling and then some. WE DO NOT WANT YOUR DOOR TO DOOR SALES IF THEY ARE NOT IN ATT TRUCKS THAT ARE FULLY PAINTED NOT WITH CHEAP MAGNET SIGNS AND DARK WINDOWS. THANKS.

All door to door vendors are required to display an official at&t supplied badge with picture in full view ,if they dont have one or refuse to show it then show them the end of your driveway.Blue is an actual at&t employee and red is contractor.
No knock list? ive never heard of this
While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.

Door to door salesman in an AT&T golf shirt came to my door and said because I had contacted AT&T in the past (before improvements to the lines) the company would waive the installation fee. He proceeded to fill me in on all the Direct TV options and handed me a flyer with several channel tiers and prices written in silver Sharpie. He told me, that the prices he quoted me were FOREVER. I questioned that claim 3 times, knowing that operation costs go up regularly and that most contracts can only lock a price for 2 years. He said when he drew up the contract, he would write something on it guaranteeing my rates would never rise. He gave me a price for hi-speed Internet (not fiber) and basic nationwide telephone. He then said because I had an AT&T cell phone, I qualified for an additional $25 per month discount, even though I am not the account owner. I am on my brother's Friends & Family plan. He also said there was no additional charge for set-top boxes or modem gateway. With my choice of the XTRA package, Internet and phone, my price would be $110 per month...and with the $25 discount: $85. This sounds too good to be true. You tell me. Thanks

Your first clue should have been when he said "he would write something on it guaranteeing my rates would never rise." I don't think so, Tim.
It's like the old saying: If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is. I sure hope you didn't fall for his nonsense.
