Man claiming to be from AT&T came to my door unsolicited
A gentleman knocked on my door around 3:30 today wearing a polo shirt that had a large AT&T patch on it saying that he was just informing me AT&T was going to be doing checks and constructions around the area. How do I verify if he was really from AT&T? I've heard stories of criminals casing places by peeking in to see if it's someplace they want to break into and I'd like to make sure this person was legitimately from AT&T.

Contact ATT Customer Care here:
http://forums.att.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage/tab/compose/note-to-user-id/192773
Send them a private message, on this link, and they should be able to give the help needed to solve your questionable ATT gentleman problems. They are available M-F 8am-11pm Eastern time, response may take up to 2 business days.
This is not the regular CS/TS people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done. I personally know as they've helped me on a DVR swap.
Include your account#, email address and a good phone # (land or cell) and time to contact you on.
Check the blue PM envelope, upper right on every page, for their reply. Good luck 😉

If they are with at&t or represent at&t they will always have an at&t id badge visible Blue or yellow employees red are contractors for at&t. As far as the polo shirt with the at&t logo thats what 99% of the working class employees wear. If theres a union logo on the sleave they are techs, no union logo they are managers.
