U-Verse signal intermittent in the evenings, bad gateway or bad connection?
For the last few days, our U-Verse signal will intermittently cut out for a few seconds to a few minutes at a time. It's worse in the evenings, cutting in and out in 5-10 minute cycles and showing the "U-Verse signal has been lost" screen on both TVs. As this is happening, sometimes the broadband light on the gateway will turn red for a moment and then it will reacquire the signal. I've tried restarting all the AT&T devices, including a "full house reboot," unplugging everything and then turning them back on, starting with the gateway. After rebooting many times for days in a row without solving the problem, I'm convinced that either the gateway has gone bad or there is some sort of interference on the line. Is there anything else I can do or should I schedule a service appointment?

Hi @csharpcsharp,
We are sorry to hear about your U-verse issues, but we will be glad to help. Here is a post that goes over things to try if you are having issues with your broadband connection.

I tried the full 20-second modem reset suggested above, but the problem did not improve. I had to request a service appointment, and the tech spent half a day checking the lines in my building, fixing a port, and repairing a frayed wire. Since then, the problem has mostly gone away, with the exception of one day when service was spotty.

Hi,
We are glad that it is working a lot better. We are hoping that spotty day was just that day only. If you do notice any other issues, let us know.

The problem is back! Almost exactly one year later, the same problem of intermittent interference is happening again. This is incredibly frustrating.

The tech came out and replaced the old 589 modem with a new one - the problem has stopped.

The annual degradation of our AT&T U-Verse television service is back like clockwork. What does AT&T do to its network in San Francisco at the end of January every year? This time it coincides with an uptick in my monthly bill, so it's probably time to say goodbye.

Here we go again! The intermittent "U-Verse signal has been lost" problem has come back for the last 2 days. Of course I reset the modem and the receivers. Of course I checked the wires and power supplies. Of course nothing worked. I'm looking forward to canceling my AT&T service in a few months when I move.
