Do we keep old DVR when upgrading service?

We will be getting an upgrade this week, I was wondering, do we get to keep the old dcr, which has shows that I want to watch again or will we get a new dcr and I lose everything on the old dcr?

@Rrrrosemary- U-verse boxes - DVRs & STBs are not unique to service levels (channels, SD/HD). The difference is size orf hard drive on the DVR. If you upgrade your service the DVR should remain.

What DVR do you have now?  Moto/Arris 1216, 1225, 2250 or a Cisco?

The 1216 and 1225 are obsolete and are being junked as they are returned, none should be coming out.

But this is all irrelevant, after the first of the year, DVR/STBs will replaced by the Home Media Gateway.  This will handle routing, access and storage.  Built on the DirecTV architechture and having thin hardware profiles probably means we'll be getting programming from the 'cloud'.

Might just put to shame Comcrap's king of VOD title.  Smiley Very Happy

Tell the tech who comes to do the upgrade you want to keep your existing DVR. You could call customer support as well and have them put in the order to keep the existing DVR. What service are you upgrading? Some upgrades won't require a tech visit and can be done in the att system.

equipment upgrade, I believe! I do hope that informing the tech that we want to keep the old DVR will work. I'll let you know when after the update is over. Thanks for your help!!
