IPH8010 DVR I keeps freezing and reseting has done it 4 times in the past hour

So my DVR has had to reset 4 times in the past hour and now i just got a red X with the number 8 under it so it is gonna be 5.  this happening at 8 oclock at night durnung prime time and it has done randomlly here and there.  But it seems to be happening more frequently and durning the night. is this a normal issue with this DVR?  or is it my lines running to my house?  I have had Uverse for about 3 months when they installed the tech ran a new wire inside and all the wired recievers are hooked up via cat 5

Exact same issue here. On our second IPH8010 in the last month, after our original whole house DVR was fantastic for 5+ years. Our gateway went bad and needed replacing, but the tech also swapped out our dvr with the Pace. Nothing but issues since. Gears with and without progress bars, red x, blank screen, and unresponsive power button to name a few. Both the first Pace and the replacement have had the same issues. Other two wireless boxes work great. Internet works great. But the main box, the Pace DVR, is possibly the most disappointing electronic I have ever had in my home. Now they are sending a tech out on Thanksgiving, all because some J/A exec saved the corp some change by switching to these cut rate boxes. We'll see what happens tomorrow, but I'm sensing some research on alternatives in my future. This service costs quite a bit of cash to be having these issues. Issues which didn't exist for our first 5.5 years with U-Verse. All started with the IPH8010.

My thoughts, in my opinion your technical suggestions on this topic are frustrating at best. Just not even close to the core of the issue, and quite frankly so far off from what is wrong it makes me wonder why you are even posting on the subject. If I needed to switch to component cables because the new version DVR doesn't play nice with HDMI, I'd be more inclined to dump the service than reroute a more dated form of electronic delivery.

I was able to get a Motorola VIP2250 installed, therefore solving the true issue. Goodbye Pace, hello trouble-free DVR. I'd venture to guess AT&T will not be able to sustain the pain of the IPH8010 for much longer. It's a garbage unit.

Component cables vs HDMI are really personal preference.  Component has plenty of bandwidth to deliver 1080i signal to the TV.  TV's do feedback voltage.  Underpowered transformers cause issues.

But if your situation is resolved, I'm happy for you.

Component doesn't transfer audio. If an equipment manufacture is going to release a "cost controlled" unit (per their TDS), they better make sure their HDMI option works in today's world. That said, our issue with the iph8010 was not the hdmi nor the transformer. The box would work intermittently, and go down on its own for hours at a time. I firmly believe it is either subpar engineering using cheap components, or the firmware is not compatible with the gateway and/or U-verse in general. Happy to have the Motorola back. No issues since, and I'm not anticipating any.
