Pace IPH8010 with HDMI and RCA Audio Out Creates HDCP Error

Hello Everyone,

I have a Pac IPH8010 and it has worked very well until I tried to take an analog RCA audio feed from it and feed it to a receiver. My setup uses HDMI to bring the video and audio signal to my TV, but now I want to turn down/off the TV's audio and play the audio via my receiver.

Everything works until I plug into the red and white audio out ports of the IPH8010. Then the TV video shows the HDCP error until I unplug the RCA audio and reboot the IPH8010.

I know why HDCP is there, but this setup should be normal and allowed. I am not connected to the component video ports.

Is there a workaround for this error? Thanks for your help!

@CJNJUKGA - It does seem like the audio jacks should not affect the HDMI.

You could try an output from the TV or optical feed from the STB or component cables.

Here is a post that seems to cover the waterfront - https://forums.att.com/t5/U-verse-TV-DVR-Receivers/IPH8010-DVR-random-screen-black/td-p/4739089

& ends up moving the STB to another, less used, location. Seems that model is way over sensitive to the HDCP requirement.

My TV is mounted on the wall and feeding more wires to it is troublesome. I will try swapping around the boxes. Thank you.

OK, I swapped the Pace box with a Scientific Atlanta IPN330HD and it recreated the problem! HDCP error when I plug in the RCA audio out. Terrible design!

Then, reluctantly, I moved a Cisco wireless receiver to the family room. It is a Cisco ISB7005 and this one actually worked. Now I have HDMI to the TV and RCA L+R to the receiver. I don't like the idea of a wireless unit - I worry about video quality, but it is the only choice I have now.

Thanks.

Does your avr have hdmi inputs and outputs? If yes, connect hdmi out of the Stb into the avr. Then hdmi out from the avr to the tv. You'll be passing audio and video through the avr.

Your wireless Stb can be connected via Ethernet to the rg.
