S10 vs S20-S1A
I think the remote I have on one TV is the S10-S4... It's the S10-something.
Anyway, it doesn't control the soundbar, so I'm just using the remote to control the TV volume. I tried everything I could think of. I bought a Logitech, but I don't think I ever hooked that up right. I have to switch it to "soundbar" mode to control the volume and then back to "AT&T" mode to switch the channel. God forbid I want to do something like change inputs on the TV via the thing.
I have an extra remote, the S20-S1A. If I put this on the upstairs TV, what are the odds that it would work the soundbar? Does it "know more codes" so to speak?

@baseballisback - The s-20 remote was designed to be better at soundbars, so the chances are good that you will find a code. It is a little different & programs differently than the s-10. The instructions are here - http://www.att.com/esupport/u-verse/remotes/
Here is a work around for controlling volume on the soundbar with the S-10
att/ok-955-ENTER will cause the volume control to follow the mode button.
In att mode(normal watching) it will control the STB. Set the STB vol to 15 as shown on the screen
Set the TV volume to a comfortable level
Set the soundbar to a comfortable level
While watching, with the TV sound on & the soundbar off you will vary the the STB sound & hear the result from the TV.
While watching with the TV muted & the soundbar on you will vary the STB sound & hear the result from the soundbar.

First, choose the devices used in the activity.
Then, Choose the device used th change channels.
Next, set the device that changes volume. For you that would be a soundbar.
After, set the TV Input used.
Finally, Make sure all settings are correct.

Yeah, I would like to re-attack the Logitech issue sooner or later.
The whole purpose of the thread was because the "volume down" button on the primary TV's old-school silver remote is quite hard to press...like the contact point has worn out. All other buttons work fine. (After about seven years of AT&T, plus collecting leftover remotes from a tenant after they moved out, I have quite a collection of silver AT&T remotes, some of which may or may not work.)
Option 1:
If I put the never-used S20-S1A downstairs with the Denon 5.1 system, it's pretty much guaranteed to work, but the slightly-different placement of some buttons could be confusing to some users of the TV.
Option 2:
I could move the S10 from the upstairs TV that only I use to the downstairs TV that others use and then use the never-used S20-S1A upstairs. The pros are obvious...same button locations..the downside is that I have to either program two remotes
Option 3:
Just program the never-used S20-S1A downstairs and figure out the Logitech for the upstairs TV...where it's already programmed, but I obviously did something wrong.
My inital reaction is that I should move the S10 downstairs from the upstairs TV and then put the Logitech upstairs.

@baseballisback - I agree consistency is important. So, both locations should have the same remote.
Since the vol button has worn out on the S-10 call for a replacement, which will be an S-20. Then they will match.
I am a big fan of the Logitech Harmony. It can do amazing things, But, if your needs are not amazing, it may not be as good for plain vanilla use because it is not labeled as precisely as the U-verse for the u-verse application.
If you use the logitech for one location do you need another for the second location?
My suggestion is that you get that second s-20 for general use with matching remotes at both locations & use the Logitech for yourself at both locations (one of those amazing things it can do).

Next question... I have three devices.. TV, AT&T box and Denon sound receiver.
Using the old remote, if one device wouldn't turn on, I could press something like "TV, Power, AT&T, OK" and it would turn the individual device on and then back to AT&T mode. This was really useful in situations where my hand would be moving ever so slightly.
Now on the new remote... there's no "device buttons" and if the device gets out of synch...please don't tell me I have to keep my Denon and TV remotes handy. A true universal remote (which these admittedly aren't...but at least the old AT&T remote could be programmed to operate other devices like a DVD player.)
Any suggestions on what to do if the devices become unsynched? ... which they tend to do on a regular basis.

Manually turn them off by pressing the power buttons on the devices.

@baseballisback - I do have a technique that I also recommend for the s-10. But, it probably is not as effective with three devices.
If you press power & ONLY the STB does NOT turn on, it is obvious to press the OK button. The technique is when the STB does turn on & another does not - Press power again & you will be back to the first sentence - Press OK.
I think the S-20 is much slower than the s-10. Try to maximize the device postitions for getting the IR. Be sure to hold aim during full cycle. If you have constant problem consider that the remote may be too powerful & bounce it off the ceiling.
Worse comes to worst, you could try reprogramming the power sequence. It is only a couple of presses.No numbers. It says you can set the order, but, I am not so sure. The STB may always be included. That may be good.
If only one of the two (TV & Denon) comes on reprogram for the other & do the OK thing. Then reprogram for three.

@baseballisback - The answer to your qustion - Is there a way to change this to blink only once?
appears to be call for a replacement because When I press those buttons, thei & the power & others, light & stay lit for a period of time.

So now I press buttons like "guide", "info" or "menu" and the power light blinks once.
Maybe I should alert people at the NASA channel that aliens are taking over AT&T.

Yeah, it's back to multiple times.
I had it sitting around as a spare (got a remote when I upgraded from the VIP-1200 to the wireless STB), but it should still be good... as long as it works, it works...*shrug*

Update:
So I finally, finally got around to calling AT&T. On the S20 remotes, when you press a button and the power light blinks multiple times, it means the batteries are weak. Why it seemed to function for multiple months without issue is anyone's guess. I replaced the batteries and the power light now glows green instead of blinks red.
They're also gonna send me either a S20 or S30 for the upstairs TV to hopefully work the soundbar. Plus, it's nice to have two remotes of the same design.
