Silver remote with Philips TV

Hi,

I've programmed my silver Uverse remote to our Philips TV - don't have the model # handy at the moment.  It works fine, with one exception.  The Silver remote cannot turn the volume down.  It can turn it up, mute, turn TV off, etc.  Just can't turn volume down.

Anyone run into this out there?

I think there are two possibilities -

1) You have not programmed the correct code. You need to try other codes & search.

2) But first, The down volume button has a high failure rate. Could be not making contact. To test it - program ATT/OK - 955 - ENTER

The remote audio control will then follow the mode setting. In att mode (normal watching) it will vary the STB volume. See if it works for the STB.

If it does not work, you need a new remote.

If it does work, you can use it that way until you can find a code for the TV.

Thanks - I'll try that tonight.  I entered all the codes for Philips (about 3 lines of them).  I try to follow the instructions to auto-program(or whatever it's called) the remote, but that doesn't work in the manner the instructions describe.  I'll respond again tomorrow.

It's not programmed wrong, that's the first thing users usually loose, the down volume.  Here on my Panasonic, can press the TV button on the remote and use rt/lft arrows to raise/lower volume. 😉

Try using your TV though. You can access CHANNEL 411 or you can go to Interactive screen by clicking the Interactive button. You can use them both as reference.

Very frustrated, I have the same type of uverse remotes & they both are in excellent condition, everything works on the remote but the lower volume button. The raise volume button works fine, it's just the lower that has failed on two of my remotes. My remotes are programmed correctly, it's gotta be a material defect instead of a wear & tear problem. People use the volume increase as much as the volume decrease. How is it possible for one to fail while the other works perfect?? My volume decrease has gotten so bad, it's almost inoperable. Looking for options because I'm not gonna pay money for another remote just to replace one function that will eventually fail again ...Pat

The button is worn out. Since it is quite common, I am not sure if it was poor mfgr or high use. I would go for defect because the OK button is my most used.

You should get a free replacement. If you cannot get one by calling in, send a PM to attcustomercare.
